'Sif use anything other than Linux to do this kind of thing.

It offers the kind of versatility nothing else can (except maybe FreeBSD or HURD).

ok ... but the thing is wats it based on like ..... how to put it is it designed with windows or is it designed on a diffrent platform wat so ever? :oops:

Design based off Unix, created from scratch. It's an entirely different OS. Numerous variations (called distributions) of it are available, some intended for high-end servers, some for embedded systems and some designed as a desktop OS.

It runs on many different CPU architectures, from x86 to SPARC to PowerPC to embedded ARM processors.

ok i get it now its designed very diffrently :)

still linux sounds like its worth a go :D
