Because its the best mag you can get.
It arrived today, gonna be up all night reading it. Came with a CD this time too.
Over the last two months and including this months they have had a Lunix tutoiral and I've been reading it over and over... cant wait to start doing it when I can put together the proper pieces.
But yeh, be interesting to see who else reads it...

Do tell, do tell... I find their articles to be serious, but funny. Never thought of them to be inaccurate. They sound like they know what their are talking about.

Awhile back there were some accusations that their hardware reviews were "paid for". Not sure how much truth was in them.
I get it and read it every month..
Yes some of their reviews are downright bad..
Oh and on Linux.. I installed Lindows V2 today.. just for a look. Its interesting. Very OS X looking..

the Mandrake 9 login screen reminds me of OS X (gdm).
Actual desktop environment (KDE 3.0.3) is themed up using Mosfets Liquid + Slicks icons (Mosfets liquid available in a Mandrake 9 RPM from KDE-Look
i read the mag, and yes, there are someitimes dodgy reviews, but its good reading.
Give me an example of a dodgy review... any issue any page... I dunno what you mean.

i think it was a 2k vs XP review, concerning graphic performance.
they benchmarked win2k without SP2, and benchmarked it against XP.
this is with them saying they installed the latest drivers, and 4in1s, dx8, etc etc.
Since we all know that any serious gamer would have sp2 installed, it definately showed the loss and xp as the winner. I had the basic same machine as the test machine at the time and the same graphics card. I benchmarked at exactly the same settings as they did, with the same drivers, but i also had sp2 installed, and got an extra 1000 odd 3dmarks, which owned the xp benchmark in the article. I just thought it was a bit strange. While i cant and wont say that the comparisons were fair between their and my machine, the scaling didnt work out. They also didnt do something else as well that showed xp in a greater light then 2k. i dunno, maybe advertising XP as the latest greatest/fastest was their mission.. *shrug*
i dont have a subscription and due to that review and a few others that i cant remember now, i wont get a subscription to it. It however has a lot of good stuff in it, and especially the q and a sections are a real help to n00bs.

In short, they bagged the crap outa this aluminium case.. And outright lied in their review..
But I own 1 of these, and so did Flammable..
And they are really nice cases.
But Atomic cant say a competitors to LianLi's cases is good.. So they shot it down in flames. Just so they didnt lose advertising dollar..
And its a common thing too, U advertise in the mag, and your sh!t smells like roses in their review..
U dont and U sell crap..
How many more examples would U like ??
Now U cant really condemn them for sucking up to ppl who give them money.. but they are in no way unbiassed..

Until the day you start writing articles to at least Atomic's quality, where it isn't over melodramatic, full of technical-ego-boosting or plain opinionistic ranting. I'll be sticking to Atomic and my other 2 magazine subscriptions.
If you had a company that was paying your magazine to advertise and stay afloat, you wouldn't be bagging out their stuff.
Although if you want good quality reviews, usually Dan has good unbiased ones.
speaking of reading... has anyone read the jeffery deaver novel "Blue Nowhere" murder novel with computer theme (current times) not a classic or anything but if ya got a coupla hours to kill is worth a read some of you tech heads might get a better kick from it...
yea i have read that.. interesting to say the least.. but not smashing like "Earth" by david brin. i can probably rate that the best book i have ever read, nearly had me in tears from the pure immense scope... very fucking incredible. that wasnt cos of the computers though.. haha...
its an incredible book.
