I hook up my computer to the TV, using composite, all snug and plugged in good, then load up computer.
I see the startup screen, windows 2k startup screen, everything is peachy.
Then the desktop loads up and it is as if the screen has been moved down a third :( all i see is a tiny bit of my startbar up the top, a big thick line of black, and the rest of my upper icons on the bottom of the screen.
Im running an Asus Geforce(1) DDR 32mb. Strange thing is it worked a few months back, and i havent updated drivers since.
Oh, and i tried using S-vid with same results.

a) What res you running your desktop at? (sometimes it does matter tv's don't have a high res)
b) What are you outputting? (PAL etc)
c) What refresh rate have you got you're desktop at (see question a)

that's about the only things i can think of that would mess up the tv out
try changing you're desktop res+refresh and check that the output is PAL. also i have found that each video card has their own peculiar s-vid cords - some work in a few cards, others only work properly in the original card.

Ok, got it working a while ago (thanks for help warlock)
I got the latest drivers and it worked.

Now, for the challenge.
Recording stuff to VCR.

Two things ive tried that havent worked:
Plug VIDEOcomposite and sound into VCR
Plug VIDEOcomposite and sound directly into TV, then output from TV to VCR.

Both times, something is recorded, but its just very scrambled, the audio is high pitched squeeling (yet video runs same speed). Its also B&W.

Anyone have anymore stratigies or solutions? I have another TV and VCR at my disposal, however, i want to do about 10h+ recording, so dragging that down the house isnt wanted :P.

I had a brainstorm, it could be to do with NTSC , PAL, or the .avi's.....any way to fixit?

As I told you on the phone, just try what I used to do. I had my computer hooked up to my vcr, I ran the program TvTool to output the image to the television and monitor at the same time, then has tweaking options for moving the image on the television or doing macro shit and other stuff that will help you. Then I just play the movie (divx) I wanted to record to vcr, output it using TvTool, adjust the image to the screen, hit play, hit record, bam it's all good.

Hope it works for you :)

Cant do composite out & Monitor out at same time (?)

check your refresh rate

when i plug my tv into the computer and then boot up my refresh rate drops to 50Hz

if i set it up after the computer is turned on it works fine
