[Attachment 7148] Almost strangely, and most certainly conversely to many studies publicised by the mainstream media, a new study by Texas A&M International University's associate professor, Dr. Christopher J. Ferguson, suggests that violent video games could actually make for more stable personalities among youth.

"103 young adults were given a frustration task and then randomized to play no game, a non-violent game, a violent game with good versus evil theme, or a violent game in which they played 'the bad guy.'" Dr. Ferguson writes in Volume 15 of the European Psychologist 2010 journal. "The results suggest that violent games reduce depression and hostile feelings in players through mood management."

Ferguson concedes that much more research is required, but delivered the sentiment that violent video games could in fact be used in therapy with teens and young adults, rather than the cause of that therapy. So, next time you're feeling a little angry, take off the boxing mits, turn down the loud music, put away of the bottle of whisky... and shoot some virtual face. Certainly, do not throw your Xbox 360 across the room.

could've told you this years ago (probably did too!)! i know i put all my rage behind knife-stabby kills in BFBC2 - aside from the adrenaline after a gaming session, i always feel calmer after slaughtering in-game.

I say better to slaughter in a game than really life unless you're a fruit loop - we can't rap everyone is cotton wool & the world is full of idiot's with violent games or no violent games.

I've always done this, logged into some destruction/killing centric game and owned the shit out of everything around me...always made me feel better and is much cheaper than doing the same to my actual stuff :p
