Not a massive star wars fan, but this looks like its going to be an awesome game, interested to see how they balance the classes/roles/characters choices.

Post 5

I'm really hoping that they've also done away with the Tank/Healer/Dps preset.

Post 6

dont hope for that, man. that was done in STO and CO. now neither game feels - er - communal. without some need to rely on other players people put no effort into teaming so you essentially have a giant SP game with lots of (N)PCs.

STO is getting back on track in this regard though, with the addition of career-based options in missions - eg: only tac officer can activate this turret system, engineer can repair this door, sci officer can hack a satellite, etc ,etc. But they havent gone far enough yet, since they always allow you to complete missions without doing the specialist tasks.

Post 7

The problem is; if they don't do the roles perfectly, you end up with a shortage in tanks/healers.

Post 8

which is still better than everyone being a DPS-tank-healer-crowd controller ;P (I mean crap, even in STO I discovered my Tactical officer main now has a team heal - AND it's only AoE in the sense that a map is an area!)

if it worries you man, I'll go healer! Richard Cheddarmann shall return and heal like a motherfucker ;P

Not only am I not a huge Star Wars fan, I've been somewhat of an anti-MMO gamer. My favourite online RPG experience, by far, was Neverwinter Night's Nordock persistant world module. But I'm really looking forward to this as well.

Admittedly, I'd prefer an original IP rather than something based on Star Wars, but I'm growing more and more confident that BioWare are going to deliver a good game with this.

Post 11

BioWare hasnt let me down yet :D cant wait for this game!!11!!!

Post 12

I'll definitely get in to this. I prefer the stories around this time rather than the original Star Wars timeline.

Hopefully it's an MMO that I stick too as all previous MMO's got way too repetitive for me after 2 months of playing.

And you're playing it too Ratty so I have someone to play along side with haha! :P

do we know if this game is going to have a sidekick type game mechanic?

I am not a huge Star Wars fan but watching this game since they announced they were making it gets me more and more into it i have been into MMO's since beta launch of World of Warcraft, The classes they have are not to bad with the Trooper on the republic side being a tank/dps and smuggler class being a healer/dps, It will be the same as all other MMO's in respects to classes.Because there will be Raids (dungeon runs) with big boss fights but they will also have space combat like Free Lancer if anyone played that and as well as general solo and group quests. The best bit about the questing is the dialog is all fully voiced, i am more focused on hitting the PvP aspect of it they say they are making it huge and that is just what i am looking for.

Post 23

yeah, you can see George Lucas' input right there...

If you think about the star wars universe, there are no healers per se, it SHOULD be just all out war, but like lars said there will be less of a need to group together. It depends on a hundred things like pvp mechanics, pve mechanics etc. I think you will get your wish lenko there really shouldnt be any healer/tank/dps fights anymore. We might see what happens in FPS's, mass combat situations. group vs group or army vs army rather than group vs big scarey monster. either way, im a bit apprehensive about this game, i know its bioware any everything but star wars is so overdone unless they have reinvented the universe i can see it getting old fast.
