[Attachment 8190]We recently broke the news about EA's announced retailer list for Battlefield 3, noting Steam's absence. Unfortunately that doesn't seem to be a mistake. A financial research firm named Baird is said to have held a meeting with GameStop management recently, confirming the absence of Battlefield 3 on Steam in their report. "The upcoming EA title Battlefield 3 will be sold as a download through GameStop, but not through Steam," it read.
Heartbreaking, quite frankly. Instead, you can pre-order a boxed copy of Battlefield 3 from ozgameshop.com for $47, or dungeoncrawl.com.au for $56. It's my understanding that these will in fact be UK copies of the game, but that will make no difference to you - apart from potentially taking a few days longer to arrive.
Battlefield 3 won't appear on Steam, retailer says [Develop]
going to hold out in the unlikely event that sanity prevails. Otherwise, I prolly wont have a net connection when BF3 drops anyhow.
given GU's good google results, hopefully EA's marketing department stumbles across this thread while performing damage control about this topic; in which case: EA, suck my balls.
That's one less game for me to worry about buying. Sorry EA. If it's not on steam then it's not on PC.I waste a fair bit of money on steam SteamCalculator.com - How much is your Steam Account worth? you'd think EA would want some of it.

People have been buying up domain names for future profitable products for years now. As if activision playing cry baby instead of buying the domain off the guy.
after watching these vids of the closed alpha, im impressed, i take back any past comments on it looking like shit. Here’s Some Leaked Footage Of Battlefield 3 In Action | Kotaku Australia
so BF3 has an external web-based server browser now (BattleLog) - I guess this ensures that YET AGAIN we get no BF3 goodness for LANing. FFS fuckheads. Even the COD games are LANable.
Rumor is BF3 will make it to steam. Report: EA and Valve in late-stage talks to get Battlefield 3 to Steam - Battlefield 3 Quote: According to an anonymous report BF3Blog received from inside Valve, the developer/publisher is currently in late-stage talks with EA in bringing Battlefield 3 to the Steam digital distribution service. The rumor says that Battlefield 3 would be available on Steam just in time for the game’s release on October 25.
What I do not get is the 2142 Solders and names carried over to BC2 as it is the same login. However in BF3 now my nic is lofarr (without caps) which both previous versions had it in caps and even BC2 has Lothar.
It's caus they use your origin account name as your soldier profile name, to keep it uniform across their stats trackers. BC2 etc use EA persona's which is a different system.
