Gamespot.au is reporting that the Federal Government has released the guidelines for the classification of R18+ video games in Australia. All State and Federal Attorneys-General have signed off on the new rules meaning that now only the legislation itself has to be passed.
This doesn't mean developers get carte blanche when it comes to the content of their games but it does mean that games which normally would have been refused classification in Australia or neutered to be shoe-horned into an M15+ classification stand a reasonable chance of being released in their intended form.
