[Attachment 8700]Many of us will likely be waiting for years for fibre to reach our suburbs, but we won't be forced into cowering helplessly while our peers flaunt their massive download speeds on Australia's new fibre infrastructure. Surprisingly, that's thanks to Telstra Bigpond - a phrase not often spoken.
Melbournites have had access to Telstra's 100Mbps "Ultimate Cable" service since March, but as of December all other cable-connected capitals will be able to jump aboard the service as well. More specifically, Perth will see its arrival on November 30, while Sydney, Brisbane, the Gold Coast and Adelaide will have to wait until December 12.
How can you tell if you're eligible? If you can get a Pay TV cable service at your house, such as Foxtel, you're ready to go. A 500GB plan will set you back "29.95, without peak or off-peak restrictions.
