[Attachment 8829]News.com.au is reporting that today a bill to amend the Classification Act 1995 and Broadcasting Services Act 1992 to include an R18+ classification for video games has been introduced in the Senate. It's actually happening! Later this month while you're enjoying Syndicate along with everyone else take a moment to appreciate the fact it might be the last time you play a (decent) game that was banned in Australia!

Which is more likely, government suddenly sees sense and implements an adult level rating for video games, or....
Government continues being a pack of arseholes and merely shifts the goalposts for MA15+ games up to R18+, leaving all currently banned games as refused classification.

It is essentially removing MA15+, it just means now you have two R18+ categories, with one confusingly named MA15+.
Put on my cynicism hat, and I could say that the SA Attorney General is the only one being honest about the rating, see previous conspiracy posts above.
South Australia does seem to have a large percentage of silly old fuckers based on representative politics.
