Hi All - I recently got a copy of Mandrake 9 ISO from Aravi (thanks Aravi) - but it is starting to drive me a little crazy.
I installed it ok - but I noticed when I chose "expert" as the installation method it is supposed to give you an option of which packages to install - and it doesn't.
If I try to install packages later it tells me the packages aren't available on the CD?? All I want to do is install the network computer server and web/ftp options and administer the machine via webmin over a network.
I can get as far as Webmin but when I go to Samba services to configure it, it tells me it's not installed - d'oh!

if it is saying within webmin that the Samba modules are not installed then you will have to go to the webmin site and dl the samba modules for webmin and add them as they might not come standard with the mandrake webmin install. If it is that mandrake has not installed Samba then yeah you will have to do that. loads of instructions etc on how to do it on the web.
Btw I am currently trying out mandrake (latest) and haven't had any problems with it at all in regards to packages etc etc
and yeah menty no probs for putting you onto that one :P
thanks guys i will give it another shot - I just can't understand why the install doesn't give me the option of which packages to install - it's very frustrating - if I fire up a gui it takes forever as its running on a 233 mhz with 24 mb of ram - very slow!
atm i'm trying to configure it for the net so I can dl the packages.
