its Crap for Wolfy caus he is in another state, hhahahaa :)

Post 6

do you pay anything for connecting to darwin wireless?

I read the article and the network is connected to an adsl connection. I assume the adsl is 1500/512? so 10 people using a single 1500/512 won't get good connection speed.

Maybe I'm wrong too.

as far as i know its free browsing on the internet
there will be like internet cards and stuff comming out later but this isnt for internet
its primarly for gaming on a WAN
but there is internet for browsning not for dling huge movies :P

True, I personaly know Aaron who is in charge of the Wifi, and he is letting ppl use his Inet access, but for checking emails, surfing ..etc. NOT for downloading. This is his personal account and i am sure he would like a bit of the bandwidth for him self.

tn1.exec member for DWBC

Post 9

ok. thanks for the info.

downloading would definitely be a bitch for him if all the users do that.

Post 10

yes it woudl but he monitors it and is bringing out some thing where u have a limit on ya network card its all to do with the mac addresses and yeha oi dont know what it is and how it works yet cause he is still working on it
but imagin having say 100 people on the network every few days at 8 or somethign there will be a games night and a different game everynight
or somethign like that
and when the games quiet down and not much activity u can leech of one another

I'm currently installing wireless, and there are two types of antenna - directional and omni - the omni's are on the high points of darwin and act as repeaters to cover the low points.

Btw knight, an omni om my roof should see your place in karama :)

how many Dbi is it ?
u should buy a amp for it so that it can have more power and i can get full signal with my coffee tin :D

Post 19

hmm - well the omni isnt up yet as it relies on donations from the wireless community but it is earmarked as a priority.

Dunno what the gain will be or whatever dBi means - for directionals 25 dbi I think is the preferred gain thingy.

i get my antenna today at 5 pm but unfortuanately im haveing a bit of drama with my wireless access point (the bit that interfaces between the cat 5 cable and the co ax to the antenna). But when I get up and running I will point toward your coffee tin and see what happens :)

As you can tell, I'm not well versed on the technical side of this - but i'm learning.

FUTA.
