The new AOCAB arrives

July 1, 2003 - On Tuesday, 1 July 2003, the Australian Online Cheating Abolishment Body (AOCAB) will be launching its new website and forums along with a range of new services. Since its inception in November 2001, AOCAB has been a primary force in striving to assist Half-Life: Counter-Strike server administrators and players around Australia with the issues and concerns of cheaters, server maintenance and server administration. This next stage in AOCAB’s development will further streamline these services, making it easier for server administrators and players to use and gain information about AOCAB and its services.

Currently, AOCAB operates a banbot that links to AOCAB’s WONID database containing over 7,000 unique WONIDs that have been caught cheating on Australian servers. With the new website, players and server administrators will be able to quickly and effortlessly access information about whether a WONID exists on the database, submit an appeal to have a WONID’s ban reconsidered by AOCAB administrators, and submit a demo of a WONID to have it considered for the database.

In addition, the website will also provide information on all aspects of AOCAB’s operation. This will include information about AOCAB’s staff and how to contact them, as well as AOCAB’s policies, privacy assurances, services and submissions guidelines. The website will include a comprehensive download area which will provide links to all the latest and necessary files needed to administer and maintain a Half-Life: Counter-Strike server.

The new AOCAB will also see the unveiling of a brand new set of services that have not been seen before in Australia. AOCAB Certification includes the following four certificates: AOCAB Administrator Accreditation Training Course (AAA) (Certificate 1 and Certificate 2) along with AOCAB Demo Review Training Course (ADRT) and AOCAB Managed Server Accredited Training Course (AMSA). These training courses will teach participants about all aspects of server administration and management. This will allow top-level server administrators to have their administrators or potential administrators independently trained and evaluated to ensure that they are well equipped to handle any aspect of server administration. The training courses will include areas of training such as demo reviewing; RCON command usage; appropriate administrator conduct and etiquette; installation and usage of add-ons such as AMX, HLDS, the AOCAB BanBot and many others.

In the future, AOCAB plans to release more services to further aid Half-Life: Counter-Strike server administrators and players, including the proposed expansion into other Half-Life modifications and other online games.

Ok this is great. Sponge your an admin for these guys do they just ban cheaters on demos or do they program VAC to detect the cheat and if so how long does it take them?

Node? hmmmm say no more

I remember when I moved back to Adelaide I was banned from both Node and Adam internet's servers within a single day of playing. Why? I was running rampant with Incy and other Pantheon SA members, getting 50-15 scores. Apparently that's too good to be genuine, in actual fact it wasn't about us being so good, it was about the rest of the players being so poor. ;P

If im not mistaken he wasnt banned, due to lack of evidence.

As far as admins banning without proof , well that is upto the server network administrators, AOCAB however is a different matter, we only ban with proof in the form of a demo and the proof must be without a doubt damning otherwise we will not add the wonID to our database. All records are kept by us on our own server accessable at any time and we have an appeals process in place for various issues that may have arisen.

As Keyser and Jawi have said..AOCAB are different too your average run of the mill Admin group..They are genuine and to the point and there to make a difference. Alas I beleive my inactivity due to personal issues and other commitments is why I think Ive lost my membership but Sponge and OD are still there I think..

and yes sponge is now our resident troll :) while hes not driving brand new SSV Holdens :D, and Dan is around when hes not busy.

Great to see such a strong stance and good comitment from some to ensure gaming is as fair as possible by removing all those unwanted cheaters.

Keep up the great work hope to see a few new "admins" soon :D
