Hi All,
i am writing a user manual for work and need to include screen shots of our new database. The problem i have is that every time i reduce the image it gets really fuzzy. any ideas of what software i could use to keep the images crisp when i reduce them?

i use photoshop 7 for that
i have tried to use photoshop 5 but the image gets fuzzy as you reduce the size of the image. i need to get it to a size where i can paste it into MS word....

The GIMP
GIMP for Win32
You will always lose some quality when reducing size, that's pretty obvious (less pixels = less detail). Although I have found the GIMP to handle scaling of images quite well.
Also, if you're saving in a compressed format such as JPG, GIMP does allow you to control the quality of the saved image in much detail.

If you're saving the screenshots as a jpeg format when you resize them smaller because of the compression type it uses the images will become fuzzy.
If you resize it in Word resize it proportionally using control or alt (it's one of those keys)
Also when bringing the image into word use insert->picture->from file. Rather than copy pasting as this can cause problems.
Photoshop 5 will do this no problem.
Also as said. When you're reducing lossy format images eg. jpeg you'll lose detail. If this manual is being printed or accessed from a local disk use TIFF (lossless format) or if it's going online use GIF (lossless again).
