Ok
Finally have a tentative deal for anyone interested in going up on a trial flight with the local flying school.
The flying school is offering for a group 5 or more people a rate of "00 per person, which is normally approx "50 per person.
The training will comprise of the following
A Group briefing, on the basic theories of flight, then the group goes out to the aeroplane and are shown how to preflight the aircraft. Then 1 at a time, each student pilot is taken up for a 30 min flight with you at the controls, and get to fly to a point of your interest, ie your house in palmerston. After everyone has been up and had a go, there will be a final debriefing where you can ask all the questions you like, then go home as a privalegded member of the Darwin Gamers Pilot Association. (DGPA)
The aircraft that the group will be operating is the 4 seat Cessna 172 Aircraft....Quite a nice lil airplane.

will we be tought how to barrel roll and stuff liek that? are them planes capable of doing that?
Post 3 Posted by P-air 2003-07-25 02:37:08 UTC
You could be taught barrel rolls, tho that would prolly be extra
And no, not in that plane...tis only utility rated

Post 16 Posted by P-air 2003-07-25 12:16:41 UTC
i guess it will be up to the instructor and your skill level...he may let you land, or take off, depending on how confident you are

aahmm.... I'm technically not yet down there but I might be sometime soon and I'm damn right interested. Since it's a one weekend thingo, how much will it cost me to get a flying license? Does it require a minimum number of hours on hands on flight or air time? How about rotary wing school (helos)? How much more work will I do to get a license to fly?

check with p-air or someone who has also has experience, i think for a "normal" student i.e. someone who can progress at a normal rate of learning (normal retention etc) its about 10 - 11 hours to get up to do your solo flight and a few more for your students licence

Dont forget, download my logbook, and put in your hours.

Future Pilot Neo, reporting for duty, Sir! :D Damn that was soo good. Thankyou P-Air for getting me into it. Taking off and cruising around was sweet, just the landing that was a little bumpy.

SOLOman1 - Very unlikely I could go myself :(, he's hardly ever in town because he runs a hunting business. Only fly's out to where his camps are so my only chance would be to go hunting with him and mabye have a go flying then. Which is unlikely, need time and also when he's able to take me out...for free
