Ok

Finally have a tentative deal for anyone interested in going up on a trial flight with the local flying school.

The flying school is offering for a group 5 or more people a rate of "00 per person, which is normally approx "50 per person.

The training will comprise of the following

A Group briefing, on the basic theories of flight, then the group goes out to the aeroplane and are shown how to preflight the aircraft. Then 1 at a time, each student pilot is taken up for a 30 min flight with you at the controls, and get to fly to a point of your interest, ie your house in palmerston. After everyone has been up and had a go, there will be a final debriefing where you can ask all the questions you like, then go home as a privalegded member of the Darwin Gamers Pilot Association. (DGPA)

The aircraft that the group will be operating is the 4 seat Cessna 172 Aircraft....Quite a nice lil airplane.

Post 2

will we be tought how to barrel roll and stuff liek that?

aahmm.... I'm technically not yet down there but I might be sometime soon and I'm damn right interested. Since it's a one weekend thingo, how much will it cost me to get a flying license? Does it require a minimum number of hours on hands on flight or air time? How about rotary wing school (helos)? How much more work will I do to get a license to fly?

check with p-air or someone who has also has experience, i think for a "normal" student i.e. someone who can progress at a normal rate of learning (normal retention etc) its about 10 - 11 hours to get up to do your solo flight and a few more for your students licence

Well done mate

No doubt the flying bug has bitten you now, and you will wish to do more at any chance you can get.......

As you may remember, keep your invoice, because it will count towards you hours later when you want to do you licence.

Dont forget, download my logbook, and put in your hours.

Post 51

Yep amazing fun I loved every minute of it!

I wanna do more, it's expensive but very much worth it to get your liscence and so much fun while your doing it :)

It was awesome!

My mates Dad owns a small plane (5 seater i think) so he may beable to take me up sometime.

Hehe the flying bug has bitten me, it's always be there hanging around but now it's actually finally bitten me  .

Let us know the situation with the DC3 as well Pair, mabye we could get a group of GU people and go up in it sometime. Be good fun.

Post 52

Future Pilot Neo, reporting for duty, Sir! :D
Damn that was soo good. Thankyou P-Air for getting me into it. Taking off and cruising around was sweet, just the landing that was a little bumpy.

SOLOman1 - Very unlikely I could go myself :(, he's hardly ever in town because he runs a hunting business. Only fly's out to where his camps are so my only chance would be to go hunting with him and mabye have a go flying then. Which is unlikely, need time and also when he's able to take me out...for free
