I wrote this intending to post it before our trip to Sydney, unfortunately due to work and the rushing around the day before and day of our flight, it's being posted four days later. Without further delay...
The Syndicate, Darwin’s longest running Counter-Strike clan, will be retiring our tag, our status and indeed our roster after our participation in 2003’s World Cyber Games, held in Sydney’s Darling Harbour on the 30th and 31st of August.
With diminished enthusiasm, activity and commitment in recent times, we lack the flare that our tag and history deserve. We have decided to do a Seinfeld, if you wish – stepping off on a note not to be forgotten, at the peak of our lengthy innings… In coming days the Syndicate, after years of local competition, will be the first team to ever leave Darwin to participate in a national tournament, the Syndicate will be Darwin’s first team to ever represent the Northern Territory, and we will do it proudly.
Time and time again, the Syndicate have proven that we are one of Darwin’s strongest competitors, leading the way and raising the bar whenever possible. From small beginnings, breaking away from the tragedy that was DFA, the Syndicate quickly developed; boasting highlights such as the toppling of eastern powerhouse EAC putting Darwin on the map, and representing Australia’s #1 clan Pantheon as their NT division for many months.
We would like to thank clans DNC, DT, OMR & SB for often bringing us down to earth with some of the finest matches we’ve ever had the pleasure of participating in. Thanks to the Gamers@Octa4/Gamers-Underground community for both the harassment and support over the years; it’s been nothing but a delight contributing to the community as a team, and as individuals. Thanks to DGA for providing an unrivalled stomping ground for battle, there would have been no team and no scene without the organisation’s ongoing support for the local gaming community. Finally, thanks to all of our friends for the fun times that will undoubtedly be canvassed again and again over nostalgic drinks in times to come.

The Syndicate versus TOB matches were never on a level that could be considered "fierce competition". Our matches were based around friendship, fun and alchohol, having a good time.

I'm finished with Counter-Strike, I'm over Half-Life. I'll be spending my gaming time on what I enjoy and waiting around for HL2 and it's counter-parts CS2 and TF2.

Rec, could you guys at least consider a "comeback" tour for EVO in Jan next year, I have spent Heaps of $$ to come up there and take on the mighty [S]...........please reccy dont quit on me for that one
Anything could happen at the LAN I guess... it really depends on how much alchohol you can afford to buy us.
But chances are, no. By that time we'll all be well and truely involved in something else... Half-Life 2, Thief 3, Deus Ex 2, Doom 3, the list goes on.
You guys were the benchmark for a lotta years, even when you weren't all playing seriously.
-=SB=-'s first loss was vs S at Evo 1 and it took us 2 more evo's and numerous lan's practising our ass off to finally get one lan win against them. That should give you an indication of their seemingly natural skill level.
Fleshy the mad lefty with his innocous mouse movements blowing off body parts. Hellspawn with his magic mouse, wherever he waves it heads appear and then disappear. OD and his ' How the FUCK did he get there so quick rushes " Neo, bloody neo, nuff said. Harb and his boobies :P Vorly.......*shudder* no man should be able to shoot that straight Crazy C and his magic headphones " Yes there's 3 coming, one is limping and the other is wearing size 9 " Rec, Ruin, Biz and the other fellas all too mad to mention. :)
Sad to see you guys go, I really havent seen a finer bunch of blokes stick it out as long as you all have. But now, I want some clarification on the History behind [S].
When I first came here, half you guys were Pantheon.. when I came back from a break, Syndicate was tearing up the turf, and .p had fallen by the wayside.
sif quite befor us icdu mob got a chance to take u on sure we would get our asses kicked but i was sooooo looking forward to that day :( worry we just have omr to scare us, Sb dotn no more to many wars against them but hey we will beat them one day - one day.....

How about some Natural-Selection. By about January this year the [S] segment was pretty damn sharp, or blunt however you want to put it. OverDrive, Neo, Bluemania, Harbinger, even Clackers and Crazy were into it providing us with the ever ever important sentry guards. Although I guess the tactics involved did seem very unnerving for the alcohol gods.
Well, it is truely a sad day, even though it been many many months since i have been involved with the great guys and friends of Syndicate I will too shed a tear this dull and dark eve. For the once Strong have fallen but to be remembered only as victors and champions.
I thought I would make a guest aperance on this note, guys S was and still is the best clan and group of ppl i have ever have the pleasure of being apart of.. Now even to see it go the memories will still remain..
You toppled EAC, nice frigging effort. however that was the good ol days of a low level number of clans. now theres so many, and so many good ones i dont know about i wish for the beta 2 days again :P
