CS:GO gets a substantial content update

Counter-Strike: Global Offensive was just updated again, making a number of changes and additions to the game. The default map has been switched from Inferno to Train, which appears to be a far better recreation than Inferno, apart from the fog issue. There are also a bunch of new weapons: the Para, the TEC-9 Pistol, the SG 552 (pictured), and the AUG....

    Counter-Strike: Global Offensive beta impressions

I've been shooting some face in the CS:GO beta for the first time this evening, and there's quite a bit to talk about. I should preface this impressions article with the note that while I used to play at a national level, it has been years since I've delved into any CS in any serious capacity. I'm sure there will be a number of current day elitists out there who disagree with my opinions, but I'm not claiming this as gospel, so append as much or as little weight to these opinions as you care to....

Global Offensive survey offers beta access chance

Who here is looking forward to Counter-Strike: Global Offensive? Considering that this community's roots were founded in the early betas of Counter-Strike, I'd hope at least a few of you still have an interest! The next lot of CS:GO beta keys will be given away based on the results of a new Steam survey and participant selections will be made over coming months. "Sometimes we might add experienced players, other times new players. Sometimes 1.6 players, sometimes CSS players, sometimes people who ...

    Some Counter-Strike: GO gameplay footage

The Counter-Strike: Global Offensive closed beta is now live. Those with existing keys can gain access now, while entry by the wider public will be orchestrated early next year. More beta gameplay than you can poke a stick at has already been uploaded to YouTube, so I thought I'd embed a clip here for you to have a look at.

    Counter-Strike: Global Offensive beta dated

After a raft of feedback that needed addressing, the highly anticipated Counter-Strike: Global Offensive beta was recently delayed without a release window. Without much wasted time a date has now been revealed by Valve via Twitter, and that date is very soon: "The beta will be active for all current key holders starting Wed November 30th."...

Counter-Strike: GO beta delayed to address feedback

Originally scheduled for launch in October, Counter-Strike: Global Offensive's beta program has been put on hold. Valve's Chet Faliszek says the beta was pushed back after the company received feedback from the Counter-Strike pro-gamers and testers, who flagged some fundamental issues that need to be resolved prior to the beta....

An hour of Counter-Strike: GO competition play

Counter-Strike has always been a very competitive game, and remains the choice of e-sports events such as the World Cyber Games. It's expected that Counter-Strike: Global Offensive will be no different, and this hour of match footage from the Intel-sponsored ESL before the game has even been released is testament to that.

Counter-Strike: Global Offensive cross-platform play excludes Xbox 360

Less than a week ago we reported on the possibility of the recently announced Counter-Strike: Global Offensive enabling cross-platform play between consoles and PC. Kotaku has now published a hands-on article stating that it's a feature of the game and hadn't suggested there was any doubt of its implementation. Unfortunately for Xbox 360 players, they'll be excluded due to its lack of Steam integration and inability to use anything except the Xbox 360 controller. PS3, Mac and PC players will be mat...

Our first look at Counter-Strike: Global Offensive

Courtesy of IGN is our first look at Counter-Strike: Global Offensive. Embedded you will find three gameplay videos with about five minutes of footage to gawk at, paired with some informative commentary about the development and features. Map changes, weapon additions and a visual face-lift are all showcased. Unfortunately the face-lift is a mixed bag of mess. While the aesthetic presentation of maps look far better than any previous Counter-Strike, the animations aren't much of an improvement...

Counter-Strike: Global Offensive to allow cross-platform multiplayer?

Counter-Strike: Global Offensive was revealed just over a week ago, as was a slew of opinions from professional gamers who have been testing the forthcoming shooter. PCGames.de recently had a word with Valve CEO, Gabe Newell, and popped an interesting question; is cross-platform play a possibility? "That's certainly our goal. We never want to create these islands of players. Our view is players should be able to play as part of a community on whatever device they can," Gabe responded. He followed...

"CS: GO features new maps, characters, and weapons and delivers updated versions of the classic CS content (de_dust, etc.). In addition, CS: GO will introduce new gamepla...
