Hey all I just joined the forums and i like the GU severs, but I want to know if there are two down because I use two server programs and they both say that two of the GU servers are down. I wanted to know if anyone else is down and if so, does anyone know when they will be back on line.

the guy who runs the servers (OverDrive or OD) is doin other shit at the moment and cant fix it right now, well thats the jist of it i think, theyll be back up eventually.
Yeah from what I have read he is too busy with a client at work ATM and will sort it out in a week or so :)
OverDrive has been busy fer a while now ....
I am havin a go at CS 1.6 in the mean time.
can u play cs 1.6 and then go bak to 1.5?.............oh yea and i got adsl took me a while :P
I don't think you can go back to CS 1.5 once WONID system is scraped. :evil:

Stop your whinging! I've sent it to you, that and everything else. I'm not sure why WONID is being scrapped, I'm sure VALVe have their reasons - and hey, if 1.6 sucks, I will just play BF1942!
Yeah ok:
1. We all have had to download it (well unless you have nice friends that have it on cds). So don't complain about d/ling it on 28k. If you on cable well tuff, deal with it or go play somethign else.
2. CS 1.6 does NOT suck! You know everyone hated it at first, they hated steam, they hated the whole damn lot, but funny thing is everyone I know now enjoys 1.6, the new guns and the addition of the sheild has made the game that bit more enjoyable. Some still hate steam, but at least they are updating quickly and trying to make it the best they can - thats dedication which alot of games DONT have!
3. NO you can't play 1.5 via the net. Or through the WONID system. I'm not sure when this will take place bt if it hasn't already its damn close.
So many were/are affraid of change. I for one was also. But looking back over all the cs updates they have worked out great and people always enjoy them :)
I suggest if you can't d/l the cached steam install, get a friend to burn it for you. If you can't get a friend to burn it for you - then get out of the house more :wink:
Sorry, still not appreciating the game 1.6 it's just not up to scratch. It's buggy now which is understandable, but valvE have changed the whole feel of CS - for the worst. However, without being able to LAN with 1.6, perhaps 1.5 will still have it's little niche.

I'm not being a baby *sulks*. Just because a whole lot of people have put work into something doesn't mean I have to appreciate said work, does it? I didn't help little jonny howard in any way (ie sticking libs last) and a whole bunch of people did vote for him (apparently), his fascist democracy has been enforced upon us just like valve is doing with steam.
And yes, I'm comparing 1.6 to the lib. party I think.

Yeah I like the graphics, but there are other factors that detract from the gameplay. Those new guns are way way to easy to spam with.

yea not a big fan of the 1.6 ay. I got it but I don't play it. I think I'll stay with 1.5 or go play something else... or give up computer games I guess.

OK, I'm in NZ...but I want my CS. I have to go to a lan cafe to do anything normal (crappy dialup).
So are all the GU servers offline?
just give OD some time it should be sweet im playing on gamearena 1.6 but it fucks out sometimes so i stick to 1.5 cuz i like it better.
