I would like to know what games you would like organised into a gaming format for the following lan..
You will have 15days to decided so take your time, october 15th this will be locked and I will post the comps on that..
So instead of a play what we say, TELL me what you want to play.
GOD WILLING cs will be lannable by then so I would most probs have a cs 1.6 and ??? another game as the comps for the weekend..
So let me know, you dont tell me I wont organise it :) ..
By the way, I will be doing the comps for the little LAN's ie the ones we have every month and Rec will be doing the big ones. THIS is it until further notice .. after 23 its time for some things to be set back up right.
I would love another generals comp, This time we will know what to expect and people going to practise it will only make the next one bigger and better. I am sure the others would be happy to play again. Also i can think of 2 more teams that r wanting to play (4 more ppl).
Also it would be hard to get the DC comp going with more then 2 teams if ya want more then 5 vs 5 games. But if ya can get the DC comp g oing that would be great.
i dont see a DC comp being too great cause u need a fair few players to form a team and i think there will only end up being 2 or 3 teams in the day ready to play
some games i would liek to see played in comps are UT2003 WC3 CS 1.6
DC would have to be a minimum of 8 - 10 players per team, with that you would need atleast 4 teams, so there is 40 people .. which is half the lan .. and from our 100 person lan that we just had, I played only with 9 people and when the comp happened we had 20-25 so to be realistic DC is still short 15 people .. aint gonna happen on those numbers.
8 * 4 is 32 players, while this does limit you to small maps it still gives you a comp, if we got more players then bigger maps could be opened up.
Look at small maps, Berlin, Starlingrad etc, these could run 8 v 8 maps really.
Have a Forum on maps for 8 player teams.
:evil: Even find some new DC maps on the web, keep them under wraps till the comp, that way theres some challange even to the combat envoirment. :twisted:
If we set the DC comp entry list up early then we can get 32 players in.
Even if there is only say 24 ppl, then we have a "round robin" Team One vs Two, One Verses Three, Two verses Three, Played on 3 Maps. Total Points left at the end of a Maps ranks your score
THen a Sudden Death Play off for the Two highest ranked teams , winners take comp.
But still I think new maps from the NET, maps ppl don't always play, give it that extra touch.
8 vs 8 is OK and if there are 27 ppl then 9 vs 9 , 32ppl 8 vs 8 four teams.
I reckon we can get some numbers for DC fairly easily - just see what a little discussion of DC and a dash of organisation did for DGA 23? think it was like around 9 vs 9 on average, dropping to like 4 vs 4 during (rare) quiet periods, and spiking to like 13 vs 13.
Just some (semi)-serious organisation beforehand and some 8 player teams and small maps will be no problemo.
There was a DC comp? lol, i must've been out when that was announced.. hmm
so given that cs is being played.. i think maybe there should be a non fps comp.. i'd like to see a war3: FT comp myself, but i know there isn't as much support for it as there is for other games. I know of about 5 people that probably wouldn't post here (mordin might, but i dunno if he's checked the forums in a while) that would play in a war3 comp.
That said, i wouldn't mind playing generals again.. w00p made me half like that game... grrrr
I reckon there should be a MotoGP2 comp...... A full season of racing with std bikes would be the best way.(or open bikes if you want) I will get more info on these over the next few days. my 2c.

Yeh if u suck at it :D. Thats just chaos, Hell we had about 4 games on that stage at DGA 23 with about 10 ppl in it. 1st game I got 1st to 20, next game I finished up with 2 frags lol. Its fun for awhile and appropriate for a bunch of ppl to jump in who maybe havent played it much and have some fun, but cant beat one on one with a good opponent.
UT2k3. CTF or Bombing run with like 3 or 4 or 5 ppl per team. Or just some 2v2 TDM.
Those are the two comps i would LOVE. i am up for UT2003 anyday i was thinking either 3vs3 DM or 5vs5 DM its a very fast action game and would sure as well get the blood pumping
I like the idea of a FPS and an RTS .. as there will be only ever 1 or 2 comps at a LAN .. having a seperation would be best I think .. Even a race game .. motogp or the likes ..

If your brave enough unseen cause it would be an incredibly extensive tournament. I seriously think you will need more time to run it then just the weekend.
However you need me to run it im willing. Seeing as I know most of the people involved with RTS's and everything involved.
Plus ive had plenty experiance running the comps hehe/.... even with the slip up the first time
While this will probably be a pain in the arse to setup having like a themed lan is an idea mabye.
Could have a WW2 themed lan...im not to sure about everyone else but I really like learning about WW2 and also playing the games made for it :D.

Then we have Call of Duty on the way which is coming out Nov I think.
All those are top games in my book.
Just a thought but like I said probably trying to set something up like that would be a very big job.
I will be hopefully getting MotoGP 2 very shortly. It's only like $50! =D So I'd be up for a MotoGp2 comp (even though I probably won't be there :cry: ) and DoD.
How about the DC comp is just ROT vs everyone else that can play?? That's probably fair. (assuming there's more then 20 people gonna play)
lol - don't know if you were at DGA23 but we had a few rounds exactly like that: ROT vs. everyone, 20+ people were playing. ROT was consistently raped. Unless ROT have more numbers than last time, I'm afraid its gonna be all one-sided again. (although they were some of the finest rounds of DC I have every played)
i believe what unseen wrote about having 1 fps and 1 rts would be GREAT... just wondering... has DGA ever had a WC3 TFT tournament yet? maybe have that? but definetely have some sort of rts game. That would be GOOD!!! :lol: :D

can RTS also include non CS FPS? :). Coz CS would always be the FPS wouldnt it? (heres hoping it isnt). Its just other FPS missed out coz of the same rule with the WCG qualifiers and Id hate to see it happen every DGA too.
I wanna see more SC because its WAYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYY better than WC3.... I was so disappointed at EVO 3.5 when the qualifiers had WC3 instead of BW... RTS is something that is sorely missed at these lans and It would be good to draw interest with these comps...

ill definetely have to give u a game of both of them... wc3 is heaps GOOD! takes a little bit to get used 2 espically the new heros that are involved! though, both games are great to play...
but come on.... lets get atleast one warcraft 3 tft happening... its never been played as a tournament... play 2v2... maybe 1v1... but definetely 2v2 in an RTS game
No way man... WC3 is a crap substitute for BW.... WC3 has the cool features and the cool graphics... but for all round playability and awesome strategy game... sc all the way...
plus WarcraftIII, CS, C&C Generals. All of those would be great for comps :lol: , but of course not all of them will be in it, no one will have the time to go on every one :cry:
The fact of the matter is though that having comps with games that are not always played people are not interested u never will get numbers as seen at dga 23. An ET comp???? with 1 team. not going to happen. Its not suddenly going to take over a game like counter-strike as much as it has been played. people still have interest in the competition side of it cause they know how to play it. :)
but we cant keep having the same comp every lan or else it will be boring there needs to be other games played maybe 3 weeks or so before each lan we put up a pole for the comps then its simply the most votes wins and that comp is played then with a week to go the comp organisers know the games being played and can put up a rego page, setup a server and set teh rules. then they can also take regostrations and draw up a ladder so on the day it runs smoth and ontime as it possably can

You might be surprised at how much interest you get. Trouble is, it needs to be announced, so people know there is a game on. Either that or have a server constantly up, and then people would dribble in.....
Unseen, I think for a future DGA DC might be a viable game. I'm sure that in 2 or 3 months we would be able to get enough teams to be interested. ICDU have now got enough for a DC team and are thinking about going online with it. So DC for maybe DGA in the future (not next DGA but perhaps closer to December or Jan.)
Quake 3\Quake 2\QuakeWorld\DooM Legacy all sound like games worthy of a Tourney to me.
I suspect if any of those, it's gonna be Quake 3 (pity, QuakeWorld ownz). If I had my Quake dedicated server available I'd offer to bring it along but the box is on loan to a mate ATM.
yeahyeah tetrinet!! much fun to be had there :) i got a server for it too, so rules can be kept the same throughout the comp.. (i'm hoping for a comp, cant you tell? ;)) it runs in java too, nice and sexy :)
