Table For My Computer

i wanna get a table for my computer

i look in the junk mail and the tresstle tables in there are nice but too thin
if i put me computer and stero on it it will proberly break

so where is a good place to get tables?

i dont want some fancy office one or anyhting just a normal table like a DGA one but a bit smaller

i tryed googleing a few things to see if i can get some plans for making one but none of them where any good

Try the library for plans or some of those DIY magazines

Not hard to make one - have a look at another table for ideas and duplicate

I have used an old door on milk crates .... cheap but ugly and a little unstable at times ...

I did something similar. The trick is to use zipclips to hold it together.

you can try freedom furnature or jape or something like that for some good tables. they prolly arent cheap but they are the best :)
also check the trading post there might be good desks you can get in there.

Trestle tables are actually pretty strong - yet to see one break.
There again I wouldn't have a clue how much crap you're gonna put on it.

I got myself an old school desk for 20bucks, its amout 1mX60cm i got it from a charity mission i think (St Vincents). It does what i want and nobody has noticed its a school one yet.

i got a nice big old jarah one that my mum picked up at a garage sale for 40 bucks. u could build ur own, it aint that hard, u musta done woddwork at sumtime in ur life.

I built my bred side table and i've built a desk before.
as topgun said look in some DIY magz.

Woods pretty cheap atm depending on what you want. I rekon you should get good strength but a dodgy surface wood. In the long runs its better, because of its strength. Altho is surface is ruff and bump, borrow a sander off someone and smooth it down, put 2-4 coats of lacker on the surface and its now smooth and shiny for your gaming needs. :)

Have fun knight, its just a 1 days building job, then at night lacker it, morning lacker, night lacker, morning lacker, leave for 2 days, then bobs your uncle.

ask clackers to make half a table for you :P just give him cash for the stuff :P

If you've got a bit of money and if there is an OfficeWorks in Darwin then you could get a table from them for about $60 (also assuming that they'd have the same thing for the same price as they're advertising down here).

It measures about 1800mm wide by 750mm deep and about 1700mm high. Also has steel tressel legs so it is fairly easy to cart around, and you can fit two computers on it comfortably.

But if you don't have the money or an OfficeWorks then get an old door and make up some tressel legs for it :D

i dont want any shelves or pull out kboard things or anythgin

knight, i presuming u meant 1500mm, not 150. and godamn that is sweet, are the dual monitors handy? and if ur watching a movie on dual monitors, can u choose for it to be fullscreen on just one, and have sumthing else on the other?

Im using a GF4 ti4200 to drive both monitors so I am at the mercy of nvidia's nView software.

Dual comes in handy for remote server admin etc. Can have sever shell full screen on one and a refence page/email/icq on the other.

Unfortunately all the movie players I have tried so far (WMP9, DivXplayer) try and display across both monitors when in full screen mode.

Also slightly disappointing is the fact that when a game starts up the second monitor switches off, but with most games being able to shel out to windows quickly these days its not too bad

I made my own ... used MDF ... its 3.6 m long x 900 mm wide plus two side units about 1.5m and 2m respectively - designed to seat two people, has 3 computers, 1 x scanner, 2 x printers and a phone / fax on it at the moment with room to spare ....

Has keyboard shelf slide out thingys, drawers and shelves for stuff ...

Cost about $500 including paint and all hardware - took two weekends to make - it is a built in unit and wraps around 3 walls of my study - will post a pic when I get around to it ... oh and I am just finishing a set of book shelves to go above it all ... hmmm books ... got 100's of the dam things ... must learn to read one day ...

With the dual monitors, I went out and bought about $40 worth of cables and adaptors so I could use the S-Video out on my laptop and hook it up to the TV.

When I'm using dual monitor, I open a movie in WMP 9, drag the window over to the second monitor (well the TV in my case), and fullscreen it. Works really well - full screen video on the TV while the left hand side monitor (ie the laptop panel) is free for other stuff. :)
