can we work on gettign some prizes for the comp winners?
maybe negoating with a local computer shop of a discount or donation of a prize for comp winners
this will give inderviduals and teams more of a insentive to play
hopefully making the tournments bigger and a bit more interesting cause people will train harder and so on

Another idea is to raise the entry price by $5 or so and use the for prizes and stuff.
considering that its probably bad form to get sponsorship from more than one computer shop at a time, and the fact that DGA already get sponsorship for door prizes(i think) its a bit much to ask for more stuff.. unless its like... pens or something crap
and as for increasing entry fees to subsidise it, ummm for so many reasons... sif
well how bout a cash prize then its easly split between teams or can be used to by there drinks :P
maybe a fee to enter the comp would be a idea but i tinkt he lan fee is enough as it is and dont think many peopel will be as interested if we had to play to enter :P
unless the prize money was 1million dollars
Prizes are not given on every comp for the reason that we dont have enough really to go around.. Prizes are allocated to the door atm We are sourcing most places to possibly do prizes for more things, ie comps, door.
More when we hear more :p
Until then prizes for comps will be limited
Um how about a bag of chupachups or something, just to provide some motivation, its like $3 for 10 :?

Whats wrong with free entry to the next DGA?
I mean if its a case of a 2 vs 2 war3 war or something, its not going to be hard on DGA for 2 people to get a free entry is it?
5 for a CS comp might be stretching it. And I suppose DC is out of the question.
I dunno just a thought :)
Fairly easy prize to do would be to make the winners of one comp pay half price entry for the next LAN...
only problem would be in a large multiplay game like dc, but then you could give a free can of drink or a 10% discount to the next entry.
really those prizes suck ..

The following story has some sort of a point
Me and my friend use to play Super Smash Bros on the N64 (leet game). We kicked arse, and played the computers as hard as they got. Killing them was hard cos we couldn't hit them far enough (idea is to knock opponent off stage). So we decided that was lazy. So we bought some Tiny Tots or somethign (so f'in delicious...not sure if they're made no more) and decided we'd get ONE (that's small) for each kill we made :) which made us play better.
Tiny Tots also rip as a prize to throw in a pool. Yep, instead of those rings people use, that are so big and bulky and easily seen in a 12m pool. We used Tiny Tots. Boy that was fun!

How about having a Comp Winners Board on the DGA web Page.
Like a Honor Board.
Comp winners could get a VIP card for DGA's.
VIP card last one year and give you 10% off the cost of a LAN.
This is like giving a $24 prize but also gives them a reason to keep coming back to DGA's.
OR
What about a DGA Winners Hat.....Like RTS Winner DGA24..........FPS Winner DGA24.......
Caps are cheap, but would be a badge of honor.

Working on getting admission to the following DGA at half price. There won't be any solid prizes, ie jelleybeans or whatever at the up coming DGA.
y can't we have prices like, gift cetifcates for EB or games, DVD's, anything like that would be good.
