After a fair bit of research into various cars, this one looks bloody good for my price range, 5-7500. Do any of you guys have experience with these cars? Stuff i should look out for? Thinking coupe or sedan (GLXi might not be sedan...) 5sp manual.
And tomorrow my dad get an RX8, and I've got a cover note on it, WOOOHOOO! (/me gettin to drive sportzor car!)
Anyhow blue For 5000, you can get a convertible Valiant (or 3500 for a shitty condition one)
5000 should get you a VP 6500 Should get you a VR or lower model VT
And Lancer are good, but they have no class now... get something with class
eg the valiant If your lucky you could pick up an Falcon XY GT for 6500!!! or an EB GT for 7500!!! and there fckin wicked
if your looking for a smaller engine like your lancer, check out the old 180zx, 200sx(?), 270sx, 300zx...
or 3500 should get you an 81 nissian Z... and pump 2000 into it and do it up abit and shove a great stero in it!
if you want real class buy a Falcon XD (1980) with a 302 in it, lower it, shove a skirt on it, remove the Tbar, then get the engine borred out so its a V8 6.4L

Quote from BlueMania: Do any of you guys have experience with these cars? Stuff i should look out for? Yep, been a Mitsubishi fan for as long as I can remember. They are great cars, reliable and quite durable. However their engine seals such as rings and valve guide seals are typically the first things to go in Mitsubishi's. It means they will blow smoke (due to oil leaking into the combustion chamber) so you'll have to top up the oil regularly. If your going to get one try to find one that doesn't smoke so much at startup.
Quote from psyave: 1. Im getting an 1980 Nissian Sigma :) 2.6L... 2. It's a Mitsubishi/Chrysler Sigma 2. Blue isn't Lebanese. 3. He wants something with build quality, that won't have rust as its main componets, break down on a hot day or guzzle fuel like there's no tomorrow. 4. As above.
Yeah, thanks for the info psyc, but commodores and falcons are definatly off my list, ive decided to look at mitsubishi's, nissans (stuff u said here was helpful thx) and toyota.
Toyota's look crap, especially the year which i would have to buy with my budget. Unfortunatly, they are also very reliable, which makes it a hard decision.
Nissans, they look pretty good, esp the celica's, but the cars in range would be a bit too old, talking back to mid 80's here.
Mitsubishi. Back in the 80's they were considered to be bad quality. However in the later models and through the 90's they improved substantially on this, making them now to superior quality. However, the public has always remembered the 80's models, thus why 90's mitsubishi's are both underestimated and undervalued = bargain used buy.
I like the magna's verada's (both V6), and i love the Lancer.

I bought one of these (spammage below), it may look conservative, but its a 3.0 Litre DOHC Inline 6 that puts out 146kW/ 250Nm (190HP, 185lb-ft) and is really smooth (because its a Lexus engine and transmission). Solid body, IRS and its rear-wheel drive. Not sure yet if mine is equiped with the LSD, but......I'll have to test that out
opps your right burkyn, wont edit it but lets just say that the only toyota id consider would be a celica, but because they are very decent they are overpriced.
howards lancer is da shits! Survived Rally Casuarina beach!!! haha. Hey dude, how many K's has your lancer reached now?
Well lancers. not bad cars. I have'nt killed mine yet and its been taken to hell. Talking to the mitzi mechanic, he has'nt seen a 1.5 die yet only 1.8s. If you're getting the GLxi, should be right. coupe vers like howards look better. and you'll have more stick, the 1.5 kinda lags. interior is nicer in the GLXi too and you get a cup tray(very important haha), and tacho, high adjusters for your seats, rear seats fold back, rear speakers incl etc THe coupes have plenty of space in the back too, boot is good for 15"s. Good fuel economy, parts are resonably cheap.

Quote from BlueMania: Hey odysey, arent lexus' just glorified toyotas? I heard they were same engines, transmissions as the rest of the toyotas. Yep and they produce THE highest build quality cars in the world. The trany in my Cressida is still in use today in the current Lexus lineup.
