I was hoping if someone could help me get a better ping on battle.net for warcraft 3: The Frozen Throne. I play on Asia or USWest since they have around 290 ping for me.

On USWest I achieved a ping of 237 but averaged 250 before. Now my ping shot up to 297 for some reason. My ping on Asia has gone down to 281. Basically, I want my ping to go back to around 250 ping. That lag was fine for me.

Currently I have all settings on low or off. I have my sound off. I have everything exited when playing warcraft3. But I still get alot of lag.

Im connected to internode unlimited download, on 512/128 kbs. I have 733mhz, 384 SD Ram(I think), Geforce2 32mb card. I am connected to the internet through my brother's computer, hes using linux.

Anyway, does anyone have any suggestion so I can get a better ping???

You wont get much better than that, your playing on international servers, its probably just an increase in internet traffic

Post 4

only solution is a faster connection

512k connection allows for much better pings than that! it's because he is connecting to an international server. try find an australian server..

read battlenet, no aus server there burk, sure in aus he shuold have from 30 (local) to 100 (oposite side of country), but thats as good as it gets for overseas

The settings wouldn't affect ping would they? I play TFT with about the same ping, maybe a little better, and it's perfectly fine. How much lag do you get?

Post 8

Graphical settings are unlikely to affect ping.

Don't know if Warcraft III has any network tuning stuff, but I doubt you could make it much better than it already is.

The change in ping times is probably the result of your ISP changing their routing.

hmm bummer.. sorry, havent read battlenet. and i dont play Warcraft, so i didnt know.

Ok, thanks anyway, and Sh|thouse, reason I want better ping is because alot of the time i use hotkeys to build and then when i look back, the things i built haven't been building. This is annoying since it can be a match winning decision, like building second hero late, or buildling dead hero or upgrading destroyers. Then u realise that it wasn't built and it just annoys me so much!!!!!

ud player then? same here we should 1v1 =) I dunno how it could be your net connection, I have friends who play on slower connections than that and it seems fine with them. Maybe you should try connecting the net directly to your comp, or gettin a router. Though lots of routers have issues with Bnet. Could it be your comp specs? If your brother has a better comp you could try playin it on there and see what happens.

run a traceroute to the battlenet servers you play on and see where it starts to barf
