Left 4 Dead 2 boycott petition

And as long they deliver on those promises i'm sure it will address a lot of people's concerns. I have a lot of faith in Valve, they've given me countless hours of entertainment over the years. But surely you can understand why some (admittedly overly whiney) people have reservations about a company seeking to allay…

Left 4 Dead 2 boycott petition

L4D was sold on the (either implicit or explicit, can't remember) promise of much more content. The original game was very replayable, but sorely lacking in content. They've slightly made up for this with recent updates, but still hardly what was originally envisioned. Having said that I got a fair few hours out of …

Atheist nations are more peaceful?

statistically significant is a statistical term. for something to be statistically significant, the p-stat has to be less than a generally accepted standard - usually 0.05. in english what that means is that the probability that the results drawn from the test occured due to random chance is 0.05 or less. what he's …

Beef jerky gold-mine

Yeah for sure dude. Maestro, do you mean ChaChaChar? It's an up-market restaurant in the CBD near Eagle Street (I think) that's very popular amongst corporate types. It's pretty good, fairly pricey though.

The truth about low-carb beer

Disappointed I got on board this thread late~! Nothing important to add, just two small observations. I don't drink beer at all, but a good mate of mine drinks Pure Blond all the time because it's relatively cheap and likes the taste. Once I jokingly tried to pay him out about it during a drinking session and everyo…

Snowboarding

Yeah, been snowboarding for about 7 or so years now. Been all over Aus/NZ, few places in Europe, Killington in east coast US and Whistler in Canada. Can't wait to get some money together and get to Japan, have heard from soooo many people it's the best powder in the world. Had a mate do a season in Banff while I was…

Travel talk - share your thoughts

Got a heap but they're all still on camera at the moment, probably won't be able to put em online til I get home in 2.5 or 3 weeks. Will put them on facebook and a few of the better ones up here. Off to Lima, Peru today. Can't wait for Macchu Picchu :D

Travel talk - share your thoughts

Heh, yeah I posted this sometime in early Jan: Quote from me: So there appears to be a few GUers travelling at the moment, Rec's in Eurotrashland, Spero's in the states, etc. So I thought I'd start a thread for people to say where they are and what what they're doing. Myself - I'm currently in Cancun, Mexico. We wer…

Favourite gaming/tech news websites?

for reviews i'd usually go to metacritic. kotaku and 1up also do good reviews, most of the rest of review sites seem to be in the pockets of the game developers. toms hardware is where i'd usually go for hardware stuff. dunno about other stuff.

Top 10 Most Disappointing Games of 2008

haha, Spore =(. looking back on it I don't know how we all got our expectations so high. should have realised that what sounds too good to be true usually is!
