Following up on the post I did for the Nokia N95, I thought I'd do one up for my iPhone. These would work on the 2G and 3G handsets, too. Of course, this list is subjective, but I thought I'd share.

Individually, or all at once. And you can continue recieving messages even after you close the application, with a disconnect period you can specify.Consume Check all of your monthly usage meters via this one handy app, better than Quota. Go Brisbane Better than "Metro Bris", but you won't be unhappy with either "Metro" or "Go" for your city's public transport companion. Search for your city specific version to get what is undoubtably the best public transport schedule information tool available. Timetables, train maps and even the ability to use your GPS and tell you what your closest station is!WunderRadio Find radio stations by GPS, or search the plethora of net radio stations on the world wide web, and then stream them via the internet on your iPhone. Fantastic listening to live radio commentary of an anticipated football match, or just listening to some fresh music that isn't in your collection.Urbanspoon Only recently adding support for Australia, Urbanspoon is quickly growing to become to resource to look at to get opinions on restaurants around the country. Search by GPS, cuisine or price - and the add a review via your iPhone once you've eaten there.IceTV Check what's on the box tonight, have it show recomendations based on what your favourites are, and even schedule recordings for your HTPC remotely. One of my favourite features is checking program popularity to see what's currently hot.
Foxtel Guide Awesome for those who use Foxtel, as you can not only check the Foxtel guide, but schedule remote recordings on your IQ2 box. If you have a cable server, meaning you get all FTA channels, you don't even need to use IceTV to find out what's on FTA HD channels. Shazam No idea what that song is blasting through the speakers at your local or in the car on the way home? Fire-up Shazam and let it do the searching for you. You can then download that song straight from iTunes to your iPhone.Corkbin Take photos of your just opened wine, leave some notes for your own record, and even publish it to various social network sites to recommend to your friends.
Additionally, here are some that you should all already know about and have:Ebay Perfect for regular Ebay buyers and sellers.Skype Recieve and make calls from your Skype account when connected to any Wi-Fi network.Facebook There's little that can't be done on the app that can in a fully fledged web browser experience - including uploading and tagging photos.Paypal Send and recieve your money from your mobile.
I'll add in a couple of apps that I couldn't do without.
App Sniper. Alerts you about applications that are new, on sale or that their price has been reduced. You can also setup a 'want list' of sorts that will alert you when that applications price is reduced. I got TripView for Sydney and Melb for free using this application. Paid for itself with those two alone.
Aussie Rules - LIVE Outstanding application for tracking games of AFL. Gives live scores. Well worth a few bucks. They also have the similar application for the NRL.
PingPong. Great game of table tennis.
Hold'em A texas hold'em application. Great entertainment!
Flight control : basic dont crash them game simple and frustrating at the same time Pocket God: silly fun way to waste time but being GOD to a island of pigmys off'ing them anyway u see fit- cool thing about this is they keep making more ways to kill and thats free its just adds to the app
Use your iPhone as an AMP for your guitar, seems pretty convenient to me was wondering if anyone had any first hands experience with this or something like it? Pretty awesome if your travelling , I know theres things like this available already but the ability to do this using a phone cuts down on more shit to carry.
Just saw today there is an IPhone app for CBUS for those of you who have their house wired up using clipsal CBUS system.... really... really... awesome, costs "00 but well worth it!
Also found a couple of awesome little apps one called, RemoteX and MouseX for lazy people like me who have there computer hooked up to their TV in their room or living room you just access if via your the network and use your phone as a remote control.
RemoteX is purely for Media players but has off the top of my head 18 different ones to choose from, I found it really handy for the lazy me :P

For those of you that like a nice walk while hitting little white balls golfshot GPS is pretty good. Although the GPS function is pretty punishing on the battery.

- Auspost, for postal tracking, find a postcode and general usefullness - BBC news, for world news - Google earth, for 3d awesomness. - IMDB - ABN Lookup, for business owners, to check ppls legitness - coles shopmate - for seeing when my fav things are on special so I can go shopping - Domain.com.au - app is very good, I'm looking for a new apartment and this app is invaluable and easy. ring the agent from your phone straight after looking at a property on the net? incredible :P - Dominoes - for Tues nights.. - Engadget - for general tech news. USA biased. - FML - FuckMyLife - comedy genius on a cloud level. - TWI - TextingWhileintoxicated, again, comedy genius and never fails to get me wetting pants laughing. - IceTV - IRelease (light at the moment probably upgrade soon) for photographers. does everything you need in a model release, on your phone, including taking a photo of the person and getting their digital signature. incredibly useful. - MallMapsAustralia - search for shops in your local shopping center, get phone numbers quickly and easily and have an easy to use map of the center. - MetroView Aus. - GPS app, $25, heavily supported on whirlpool, if you put a good request in on the forums there they will most likely have it implemented in the next version... - NewsAustralia - A pretty decent news feed. Free for basic functions (good enough for me) - PocketWeather AU - good app - PocketDyno - bit of a fun app for a car or bike if you are a bit of a hoon (definitely me.) - Quota - Does everything I need in a useage app / general awesomeness app- aussie and supported on whirlpool. - rediATM finder - I use rediATMS for my bank so a very good and useful app. - Remote - use your iphone as a computer remote via WifI. Free. - Satellite tracker - my job involves a few sat shots so this app is quite useful. more accurate than defence instructions. - Trapster - Good GPS speed camera app. - TripView Sydney - Very very useful for Sydneysiders/Newcastlians. displays timetables in the same format as CityRail, has all bus/ferry routes and timetables and maps of all routes. - Wikipedia Mobile - 5-0 police radio scanner. Kind of fun, who doesn't like listening out for where the cops are gonna be in your area...
