V2 First Impressions

Yeh, i kinda was in two minds about it. But now, those two minds have converged into a single impression of V2.

First up, they have moved the Tradeskills workshop to Emry Isle (Aka, Mulrok). WHY? You do NOT spawn there by default (wheras the TSW used to be in Nubenzore, where you default spawned). You must pay 300Gp (two way trip) to get to the TSW. Now if your a low level character, thats an absolute shitload of gold to be wasting on boat trips.

Non-Merchant players are also unable to craft (from what i have seen/tried). I couldnt buy a miners pick axe, a blacksmiths hammer or ANY other crafting tools. I could not talk to the TSW NPC merchant either. I have spent about 24 -30 hours in total solely on crafting. You may think thats sad and you'd be absolutely correct. But thats beside the point. All that time is now WASTED because i cannot craft.

The PC Merchant houses are about 500miles north of Emry Isle town center. THis means that if you wish to 'shop til you drop', you have to walk to your feet bleed. I dont know about you, but id hate to be the last merchant in the line. To give you an idea, i browsed a few merchants and loaded three seperate areas just to get to them all. Why not put ALL the merchants in one LARGE map where they are centralised? Thus allowing characters to quickly shop/compare prices, as opposed to selling to the first or third guy in the line to give you the best price?

The Boat - Shit, i know its only a beta stage of EDON V2, but fuck, we had over 10 people stuck on that boat. Surely they would have beta tested that?

The XP system. Granted, this is still in its teething stage and rather experimental, but man, if i kill a fucking Dire Bear or Dire Wolf, i expect to gain more than 24XP for doing so, even if partied with a few characters around my level. This is kind of offset by still recieving 12xp for a fire beetle, but man, a Dire wolf is ALOT harder to kill than a fucking Fire Beelte ever will be.

There is one thing going for it thus far, however. This being the loot drops from creatures. They have greatly upped the quality of loot. In my first 10 minutes of Kill 'o' Matic(tm) Mode, i picked up four +1 WarAxes, three rings and an Scarab of Protection +3. Thats shit i would never have seen when i was adventuring on my own. But for me, this doesnt make it worth my while to even bother picking up to sell, considering i must pay aformentioned 300gp to go to Emry Isle, to sell it to the merchants, who live just south of the Mexican border.

Not to mention, freaking mother crud. There's no merchants in Helios that sell arrows. Let alone I can't craft them now (not that I could in the first place, but I was working on it before the change)
