Pay Cheque; worst movie ever.

Wasted $40 seeing it tonight. The only movie I have ever seen that was so depressing I could have walked out of the cinema (perhaps that's credit to me that I normally don't choose such terrible movies).

Obvious, obvious, obvious. I had the entire plot picked, from start to finish within 25 minutes of it, and ended up playing with functions on my phone. Lame acting, flawed concepts, over-done cliche story line, Ben Affleck... the list goes on. This movie is truely terrible.

Point of note: I rang family members at 11:30pm tonight to make sure they didn't pay to see this movie.

While talking about the universe of Ben Affleck, I'd like to point out that his last three movies (Dare Devil, Pay Cheque and Jersey Girl) have all been ripped to shred by the critics... one is to wonder when exactly he'll get a more expensive manager to start scouting for movies worth starring in.

Jersey Girl was infact so bad, the cast took a solid stance that the movie was NOT in fact intended to be watched by critics (keeping in mind the definition of a critic is basically anyone with an opinion who shares it)...

So, in closing...

PAY CHEQUE IS A WASTE OF YOUR MONEY, MORE IMPORTANTLY IT'S A WASTE OF YOUR TIME - YOU WILL NOT ONLY WISH YOU STAYED AT HOME, YOU'LL GET HOME AND HAVE TO WRITE THINGS LIKE THIS TO CALM THE ANGER.

good thing i didnt go see it :)

Post 3

Oh my God... was that movie SHIT.

SWAT WAS BETTER THAN THAT - that really, really f*cking says something.

Post 4

Cmon, it's ben Affleck, what more could you expect?

Post 5

lol. Swat was good in the sense you didn't have to think, the acting wasn't too bad but the plot was shocking.

You know what, I reckon it was John Woo that ruined Paycheck. Like he's done so many movies before (anyone remember Windtalkers... *shudders*)

Post 6

another kevin smith movie, hmmm

i might look into this jersy girl just out of interests sake, ive loved every other one of his movies

Ben Affleck was in Dogma and that movie was absolutely brilliant :D

Post 9

and mall rats, jay and silent bob strike back, chasing amy, good will hunting etc. etc. he has been in some good ones just not lately.

Post 10

All of his "serious" movies have been flops.

Post 11

good will hunting was pretty good.

Post 12

Pearl Harbour was awsome aswell.

Post 13

Here's my simple test:

if (ben affleck is lead actor) then:
movie is shit.
end if.

Post 17

Good Will Hunting is indeed a brilliant movie. ;)

Post 18

Well, guess I have to be the voice of dissent here then, cause I quite enjoyed Pay Check.

Not a very serious movie, but some good concepts there all the same.

Thought Ben Affleck did a good job, shame about Uma though, as she was crap.

Lets all slow down just a little here.
I thought the movie was good.

The only issue i had with it was that "The legend 8) " John Woo was not IMHO an impact on the movie.
I know John Woo as i have been watching his movies for 10years + and i saw VERY little of his influence in that movie.
If Holloywood dosent allow him to take the reigns of the movies they get him to direct then there is no point in having such an awsome visionary on the project.

BTW Resident Evil was also a good movie.
In fact it is the best video game to movie adaption done.
It so captured the feel of the game.

Post 23

You're gay CPL. :P

Post 24

i want to know why it costed you 40$

Post 25

I can't stand John Woo's style and the over-the-top atmosphere he creates. It irritates me to no end.

But I will go see Pay Check (when it comes to DVD) with an open mind.

Post 27

yes but it was scary as shit. so its ok i can go and see it now

Post 28

Res Evil was crap imho.

The best video game adaption, to me, is Mortal Kombat. Beats the shit out of Res Evil. Even Mario Bros was more enjoyable.

Post 29

lol i loved mario bros. now that was a kool movie

Post 30

There was a movie called Mario Bros?

Where do I get this "Super-Happy-Funtime-Wonderpot"? [Image: http://users.on.net/packern/icon_biggrin.jpg]

Post 31

seqo you are a strange lad :)

Post 32

the worst movie EVER made and i dont iknow how it got to the movies was

MASTER OF DISGUISE
THAT MOVIE BRAUGHT CRAP TO NEW LEVELS IT SERIOUSLY SHOULD HAVE BEEN USED FOR PLASTIC TOILET PAPER
so yeah it wasnt that good

Post 33

Sorry.

Mission to Mars, a B movie with a 50 million dollar budget.

Described by the filthy critic as "like sucking a wooden dildo until you get splinters in your lips".

Goddamn was it bad.

Post 34

i have to agree with that, it really only had one redeeming feature, and she didn't get naked :(

Post 35

Aye - I went to see that one at the flicks when it was out, largely because it was about space and shit and the ads looked good.

I walked out of the cinema feeling somehow robbed.

Well you will be pleased to watch Paycheck then as it has none of the over the top action squences you dislike about John Woo.

Plus to boot it is a good movie and the numbers it scored at the cinemas seem to agree with this.

As for Mario Bros been a good movie i disagree with you there. It was a pretty dodgy movie. :?

But i will agree with you on the 1st Mortal combat movie. It was a very good movie, equal to Resident evil. ( i had forgotten about the 1st mortal kombat when i made my statement.)

It depends where he lives.
If he resides in the big smoke.
IE; Sydney or Melbourne. (maybe brisbane and perth have them as well) but i dont know for sure.

Anyways some the major cinema complexes have a gold screening option. Tickets cost alot more than normal.

BUT the cinema holds about 50 people and you get like super comfy lounge like chairs to sit in.
Plus you can pay extra $ to buy hot food and some dude or dudette will bring it over to you.

Post 38

Not in Darwin you can't

Yes i know this. :?
I never claimed that you could, i dont know where Rec lives.

I just said dependant on where you live and listed a couple of big smoke towns.

Post 40

Agreed. Mortal Kombat... not that horrid excuse for a sequel that was Annihilation.

Mario Bros was just twisted... :D

Post 41

You paid $40 for a movie?

Expensive eh?

Post 42

res evil movie lacked alot of depth... considering the game has a longer more twisting story line... and scarier. Windtalkers was shit.

worst movie ever, with a budget = anything with gweneth paltrow :P

yeah cinema's are rip off's... they charge more than servo's for their food.. lame!

Post 43

Airports are bigger rip's for food :|

worst movie with a budget is Battlefield Earth.

Post 44

Omfg that movies sucked shit.

Another crap movie is jeepers creepers.

Post 45

omg i agree with seqo, battlefield earth = crappest movie

also wins crappest novel conversion.
