hi got this problem where soon as i plug power lead in back of case red light on MB goes on then when i switch it on fans all spin but nothing happns this is beand new MB been plasying round heaps and cant seem to get any thing to work any ideas would be great thanks :( ???

red light probably just means its powered. make sure your ram, cpu and cards are seated properly, and the ide cables are plugged in all the way.

Sounds like maybe you haven't plugged your smaller power supply cable into your mobo. Theres two normally - a big fat wide one, and a smaller square one. Both should be plugged into your motherboard.

doesn't matter about the smaller one.....unless you have like a bisquillian fans all running off your mobo

Make sure you dont have any of the copper posts under the mobo where they shouldnt be (done that before)
Remove the ram and se if it makes a differnence (should give standard ram missing beep noise)
remove all ide cables and power to ide devices (hey just eliminate obvious ones)
Check to make sure vide card is plugged in all teh way and not slightly up (had that problem before too)
more info on board would help to duder

ok fixed with this Abit MB you have to have 4 pin pluged in as well :D

Yep had that prob heaps.. wel actually my fault. When i was running my old board, i figured i could snip off the 12V 4 Pin as thats only used in Intel systems.... boy was i wrong. Like 16 days l8r i got my new board and there it was the 4 Pin connector :( I soldered it back together inside the P/S, heat shrink n what not (while i was there added my Tri LED Fan)... but i used to always have trouble... put case together... doesnt tuen on.... nooo... take case apart.... fix stupid wires... put together... in the mean time they broke again... u get the point...
Finally found the prob, one of the earthed wires wasnt soldered properly....
Lesson Learned: Never Cut P/S Cables, just tuck them back into the P/S for l8r use

Well, on my Abit board the manual specifically states that the 4 pin plug is not necessary and is for use in [insert special circumstance here] so I didn't plug it in. System runs beautifully.

Never cut cables just use cable ties! Most mobos now use the 4 pin connector think it may have something to do with onboard sound. Might need that extra power to give it a boost or something?
All NForce2 boards have them ... .well all the ones Ive seen.
