Humvee?

i 've been looking where to get an ex-military humvee for a while..

it's not actually possible to buy from US.. they aren't allowed to sell them anymore..

but QLD government has 13.. i wanna find out how much.. :)

I have a friend who owns a genuine one, directly imported from the us.

$90k then paid extra for all GPS extra cameras............the herald sun did a story with him driving down elizabeth st in Melb blocking 2 lanes of traffic.. and I bet you no other car was ganna abuse him or he would of burried them :)

I've only seen one humvee in Darwin, belonging to Tim (of Tim's Surf 'n Turf, Tim's on the Bay etc)

Must be two around then, one passed me at an intersection in the city, and I parked next to Tim's one at the wharf at his new place for a bit the other day.

Tims is a luxury hummer.. i'm talking about a Humvee that i can take offroad!

I know theres an off roader one in Darwin somewhere, I seen it before I left and it was FILTHY, I swear it had an inch of mud caked over half of it.

We only have those luxury Hummers in Sydney, bloody North Shore osccer mums, hehehe

although they're luxurious any humvee can be taken off road, tim has had his down to annabaroo billabong like 50 times and had it driving around the fore-shore with all the rocks and that. Burk, if you were to buy one, you should get it directly from the states, without steering conversion or anything because thats where all the problems come from. Don't get me wrong, a humvee is a beautiful god damn car except those ones from QLD will cost you heaps in repairs!

So the LHD Autos are not required for RHD conversions by Australian Transportation Requirements?. Or is that a state per state case?
It would be hard to see oncomming traffic in a LHD on a Left Side Driven Road esp when behind a 32 Wheeler. But you would save a lot of $$ in conversion prices though.

Theres three humvees in Darwin, although you might not see the third one much, as it belogns to a wildlife reserve company who mainly work in Nhulunbuy and rural areas.
(Saw it when working at the Hardware store in H'doo).

I believe that ex-military Hummers have bullet-proof glass, which you arent allowed to have in Australia for obvious reasons.

All ex-military humvee's have bullet proof glass, tires and just about everything. But I'm not sure about the laws against it. btw I know tim has one and the wildlife people but whos the other one belong to? and the prices on a new commercial humvee go for about $200,000+ the H2 would be about half that and i dunno about the H3 yet. Anything anyone else wants to know about humvees?

Hey Burk you missed a great little show on cable the other night. All about tricking out cars by the two best Mod Shops in the States. Every Basketball player and Rapper would come in with their Brand New 2 Day old Hummer worth "00k and add another $30K to $90K worth of Mods to it....Overclockers dream.....
Best one had 12" LCD on Dash, 8 Leather passenger seats each with a 10" LCD screen, fully Networked PS2 and XBOX and PC with TV/DVD reception via the Latest reception Technology. Inside/Outdside custom security system. Voice activated sound system, Climate Control, and ignition. Full IPOD dash interactive module etc etc etc

Bullet Proofing and armoring makes the vehicle heavy and gozzle up liters of gas...

If it's for military use, the armor is necessary... if it's for civilian looks... c'mmon, save up on the oil please... the greens had me there.

i got told they were no longer in the possession of the qld govt. and had been transferred to QLD fleet.. who havent responded to either of my emails.. i'm guessing they will be auctioned sometime.

Or now part of the QLD Police anti terrorist unit.
