mobile chips feature power saving technology where by the cpu slows dows when saving power. the side effect of this is that the multiplier setting are unlocked. hence no unlocking required. - awesome.

Yeah but wouldn't the lower voltages mean lowered stability??? Also, the locked multiplier on Barton cores is solved by buying an nForce2. My multipliers arent locked, I have access up to 24x multiplier and up to 300 FSB (Which equates to something like 7.2 ghz, LOL, I wish).
It has heightened stability at lower vcore's. And the multiplier problem cannot be unlocked by an nForce chipset, why? becuase they are hard locking them now and have been since week 42 production of the cpu's. Mine is hard locked at 11x.
btw, the mobile barton xp has been around since about February. They are already available at places - like Scorptec (who's had them for months).
And don't worry about your purcahse of the P4C... it will overclock better and be more stable with multiple tasks running due to HT - yes, it actually does make a difference. (btw, this is coming from an AMD lover).

actually at the higher ratings and clock speeds, as well as the 800 bus speed, hyperthreading, and the cooler core tempratures, for the amount of money i had available to spend, i got the best bang for my buck.
p4c 2.8ghz running perfectly at 3.1ghz (not yet spent the time to test the cpu's real potential.)
it outperforms and is cheaper than the athlon xp 3200+ as far as games are concerned, and thats what power computing is all about... the games we play.
