An update to the Steam client has just been released. Steam will update itself automatically when you restart. Here is a list of the changes:
- Removed Exit & Logout command
- Improved authentication system
- Improved UI feedback when Internet connection has been lost
- Improved pre-loading behavior (will no longer pause)
- Added new in-game languages: Japanese, Thai, & Russian
This update includes a "Half-Life 2 Hardware Survey". This mostly automated survey collects information about Steam users' computer hardware (and some software). We plan to use this information to tune the performance of our games. http://www.steampowered.com/index.php?area=news
With the problems they have everytime steam gets an update, you'd think they would be too scared to touch it once its working. It seems to be a case of "If it's not broken, fix it until it is", LOL
ummm I am ok just got back did the update and it works. Only thing that I can suggest is to watch the steam forums, as that is where most of the info comes from.
I installed steam last night, worked fine had no problems what so ever. Today I get online wait for steam to load up seems okey goes through my password and logs me on. It goes through some of the updates as well and what not. After all that sorted..I click on the icon bottom right hand screen...
Double Click = Nothing Right Click = Option to Exit Left click = Nothing
I haven't tried much to fix the problem because I really don't know that much about steam, as I said only installed it last night. I have tried closing and opening it again, restarting and deleting the Clientregistry.blob. But nothing seems to be helping :(
On occasions that I have shut it down and re opened it has asked me if i wanted to participate in a survey but the buttons are all muffled in symbols. Also one time the News came up but nothing was in the box.
It's been over 2hrs since i have logged on.. I have found generally while it updates it shows the tool bar of progress... this has already some and gone and shown 100% complete.
Steam crashed and Valve would not tell anyone on their forums about it. Latest patch seems to have fixed it, though I will confirm this when I log onto a game in about 56 seconds...
