i cant believe it. in my Starcraft Hey day i actually almost beat this guy.

Razor - won one, lost two, did not quailfy. the once Pro Starcraft player must be loosing his touch :) bl

UT 2004:
kore - also did well. 2 matches won, one match lost and qualified. then lost in the singles tourny. much bl.

philbot - Simillar fate. but he won all 4 in the group stages. and beaten in the first round of singles.

Halo (X-Box):
General - same as philbot, won all 4 matches in group lost in first of singles. bl

What happend Aussies :( we need a little aussie e-spirit. we kick ass at sports, but suck ass at e-sports.

How the ****ing hell did Korea get bronze and beat SK? wtf is going on? much bl to SK :( my team...

The Medal Tally saw the netherlands take the most home. how?

more coverage needed me thinks for e-sports in australia :) and a few champions and a few games :)

SK are pretty bad this year and didnt have SPawn, they stole Hyper from another swe team, apparently their strats and timing where awful compared to other years.

Team 23 the Aussies who Clandestine lost to 13-3 I think got wiped out by MIBR ( Brazil) 13-0 on Aztec and then lost to Kuwait 13-7.
Claimed that they didnt try which got a lot of pro teams backs up and they are all pretty angry.

30 page post about it on Pantheon if your interested.

Post 3

yeah i know SK is having a bad run at the moment :( got carried away, team 23 were never going to do much the most they could have done was try. loosing to brazil and ****ing Kuwait is just ebaressing.

Post 4

23 didnt have their best player Diablo there cause he was 14 or something.

Why he was allowed to play in the nationals when he knew he couldnt go to San Fran has upset a lot of people too. :(

Post 5

Personally they shouldn't have ****ing gone if they weren't gonna try.

I thought Hyper was from eYe - the US team that beat SK last year in the finals of CPL(? or something).

And MaveN has always been in contention... SK just doesn't seem to have it in them lately. 3D and Titans taking out the two top spots was a bit of a surprise though...

As for sports vs. e-sports. It all comes down to our location in the world. Australia is isolated and competition here isn't up to the level of pretty much all of the other teams. Europe, the americas, asia and the middle eastern areas can all play with large numbers of people online, in a competitive environment, far easier than Australians, Africans and New Zealanders. We're at a disadvantage which will remain for quite some time (until e-sports are more established and more appealing to the masses).

eye was swedish. i know of Maven, but in all comps internationally they havent ever done **** all :)

hehe and in asia and the us their online pings are line lan anyway.

Diablo didnt go i think because of legal reasons. there was a portugees player that was 13. but taht was cs. so maybe it was the rating. but the ratings are only guides really, if under supervision blah blah.

Fzero took 3d VERY close a year or two ago didn't they? like 13-11 down or something.

A lot of it is experience is these big comps. This was 23's first while fzero are pretty used to it by now.
I know that it affected us at WCG, if we ever go down again i'm sure we would do a fair bit better now that we KNOW were we have to improve. Same with Syndicate I would suppose. Apart from Rec as he knows what its all about.

And yeah Seqo, Hyper is the swe one, they basically bought him....got some swedish mates that tell me about it. The swe gaming community wasn't too happy as it made Sweden a 1 team country again.

well 23's members have been to big comps before, i think they just fluked aus and mucked around at wcg. if they beat everyone in aus something tells me they should have done better. f0 actually beat 3D, but it was unrecorded and quite a long time ago.

Post 9

Ahh KK, 23 were very good don't get me wrong they were better than Ichor and Bronx from our persepective after playing them.

Hit their peak at the right time i'd say.

Apparently they won their WA playoff after a triple OT or something, some good teams perhaps coming out of WA in the future it looks like.

Post 10

Ahhh right, thought eYe was US. Yeh, they get lan pings in Asia, Europe and the Americas. I'd say places like Israel would be about the same.

Diablo didn't go because he isn't an Oz citizen.

f0 beat 3d, it was recorded, i have the demo and iirc you can still get it from their site. its 1.5 (could even be 1.3), CPL 2002.

btw sorry for thread necromancy :p

Post 12

hehe. oh ok i was probably thinking of a different one. but i never knew of this one. im talking about when f0 went bootcamping with aAa, then went to the states and had a few runs with 3D :)

i knew they beat them at some stage tho :P

*sprinkles holywater and kills thread*

Post 13

hehe I have played a few matches with 23 online :) long time ago

Post 14

since we're bringing up threads, why not :P

It was pretty obvious with 23 that they only won because they had Diablo at the time. They got completely owned back in aus when they played the same teams they played at WCG, just without Diablo.

and yeah Seqo's right, he's not a citizen so that was why he didnt go, he plays for dna usually
