Post 6

i find it funny that they can't even keep their forums up, and they're very soon going to try and cope with the massive DDoS attack that is everyone trying to register/activate their copies of hl2. hah.

Post 7

They don't seem to be doing too badly really... Though I thihnk it's safe to say they'll be able to cope with it, it just might take a few minutes before you're active. ^_^ Bare with it people... Soon now.

Also... Remember that the official time they release HL2 is also when the people can buy the actual hard copy of the software. Which means, that they won't be logging on straight away. I shouldn't imagine the total pain inflicted on their servers will be much more then what they can handle in a crunch if that much.

Although, looking at their content bandwidth charts...
I'd say that people in America connecting via server Valve#5, #13, #15,#19 & #27 may not like it as much.

Can't really see it being a major issue in Australia what with the release date pushed back to the 17th! >_<

Post 14

NOW Validating! on steam :D

This mean its finally here?! Please let it be so..

Its out now dude if you have ADSL... the street release date got pushed forward for some stupid reason... it didn't really matter when the game came out before today anyways... it has to be steam validated... stupid tools...

Post 23

Post 24

Yes I believe

Post 25

Its like, activating your key and shit.
To stop people just copying it and playing it. Mind you, it wont take long for that to happen either

That's what I'd like to know - just wasted my lunch time today going to Harvey Norman, then EB, then out of desperation, BigW and Kmart.

<vent spuleen>

Why the **** can't Darwin retailers get their shit together? I'm sick of half-arsed lame excuses about why shipments haven't arrived yet, or the dog ate it - the release date is the 17th, so I expect to be able to go and pick up a copy on the 17th.

This is not the first time this sort of thing has happened - once again, a certain item that had a specified release date didn't appear in Darwin till a fortnight later - not good enough.

It's the whole slack attitude, and general incompetence, that gets me steamed up. I just hope that there is someone on these forums who works for a retailer (and don't get me wrong - I understand that the guy behind the counter is the guy who wears it, and who has the least amount of control over when stock arrives).

And NT wants to go for statehood - hah, laughable.

Post 27

Steam is your friend on this matter. I heartily agree with you on the matter that service levels are so far below standard it isn't funny

Post 28

Welcome to Darwin!
Enjoy your stay.

Post 29

*rubs Xaines head* :)

its ok my friend ;) we live in the middle of nowhere and the tax office gives us extra money every year to live here. we will never be a major capital. so everything will suck.

Jesus your complaining. We have two computer shops in Alice and their prices are so inflated its scary. I looked into buying a simple case and the price i was quoted I could have almost flown to Singapore, partied with thai dancing girls, and imported burbon from Mr beam himself. hells bells the games here are out of touch, Im sure I saw a new copy of Doom 1 on the shelf and the staff are as bloody useless as one handed wallpaper hanger.

I kid you not. I can only dream of a copy of HL2 for now.

The only state we will encompass my political friends is a state of freaking laughter.

Now if i wanted the latest brand of cask wine, no bloody problems at all sir. Would you like a pallet?

Post 31

..cask? You mean they are sold in sizes other than Flaggon? =P

Post 33

picked up a copy from EB today
