It's bad enough that I have to sit through ads at the Cinemas after paying "3.50 for a ticket... then the "0 or so for other required purchases (Frozen Coke, Popcorn ;)).

wel if you dont want to watch the add just put the dvd on to play for 15 minutes or how ever long they take and while its playing them just watch some thing else on tv or do some thing else

Generally Pirated copies aren't as good of quality, and if you OWN something, you want to be able to do what you want with it, Eg. Fast Forwards Ads.

I bought Shrek2 Dvd Recently and it has ads at the start, sure you watch it at first "yea that looks kewl" but when u watch it 5 + more times you would get really pissed, and seriously if you have nohing to do but to watch Dvds then you wouldn't like to watch these ads over and over and over and over again, now do you??

If I recall correctly, this isn't the law in Australia. However it is the law in the USA, which is the world's largest market for consumer electronics. Most players therefore honour "do not skip" instructions on a DVD.
Not all, of course. You can buy DVD players which respect nothing but their remote control. I imagine there's a website, mailing list, newsgroup or forum out there which cares about the topic.
