TROPICAL CYCLONE OUTLOOK
FOR THE AREA BETWEEN LONGITUDES 125 EAST - 142 EAST
Issued by the BUREAU OF METEOROLOGY, DARWIN
at 2:15 pm CST Tuesday 18 January 2005

A TROPICAL LOW, 1008 hPa, is situated in the northern TIMOR SEA and is moving
westwards. The low is weak and will continue to move away from the Top End. It
is NOT expected to develop into a TROPICAL CYCLONE during the next three days.

A second TROPICAL LOW, 1006 hPa, is situated in the northern CORAL SEA and is
expected to move west into the northern GULF OF CARPENTARIA in the next day or
so. The TROPICAL LOW may develop into a TROPICAL CYCLONE late in the week.

The potential for development of a TROPICAL CYCLONE in the GULF OF CARPENTARIA
over the next few days is estimated to be:
Wednesday: low,
Thursday: low,
Friday: moderate.

NOTE: Development Potential is an estimate of the probability of tropical
cyclone development for each day... Low = 10% or less, Moderate = 20% - 40%,
High = 50% or more.

Could make it a damn interesting LAN. Hope foskeys is built to code ;) Make sure you have umbrellas for your PC's - and ropes to hold you to the ground ;)

Ah - what fun we'll have :)

TROPICAL CYCLONE OUTLOOK
FOR THE AREA BETWEEN LONGITUDES 125 EAST - 142 EAST
Issued by the BUREAU OF METEOROLOGY, DARWIN
at 2:15 pm CST Wednesday 19 January 2005

A developing TROPICAL LOW 1005 hPa is situated near CAPE YORK PENINSULA. At 12
noon it was near latitude 11.8S, longitude 143.2E, about 170 km northeast of
Weipa, and moving towards the southwest at about 20 km/h. The LOW is expected to
move slowly over Cape York and then into the GULF OF CARPENTARIA on Friday or
Saturday.

The potential for development of a TROPICAL CYCLONE in the GULF OF CARPENTARIA
over the next few days is estimated to be:
Thursday: low,
Friday: mod,
Saturday: high.

Mumma's gonna buy me a mocking bird...

Post 28

It will be like last year...me running around in the rain with lots of expensive computer gear trying to keep it dry between Foskey's Pavillion and the car...fun fun fun.

Post 29

was there rain last year. didnt notice any

Post 30

lol same, where u at last evo wally....i dont remember

Post 31

It rained last yeah casue I rember having to use a towel to stop the water getting in my 21" monitor.

Post 32

there was lots of rain, torrential downpours.. it even flooded the floor near the roller door.... which reminds me..

there will be an area upstairs taped off.. no sleepies there, this is due to a broken gutter which floods parts of the top floor.. if you want to jump the rope and sleep there, that's up to you.. (you can see the water marks on the concrete)

Post 33

AFAIK someones computer was destroyed at last Evo because of the rain.

Post 34

Are there showers near the fosky pavillion?

Post 35

Not that Im aware of...and whos computer got fried at Evo 4???

Post 36

Quote from Seqo:

Post 37

i think there are some at foskey, albeit COLD!

Post 38

It didn't actually happen at the LAN, happened on the way to it or something.

Post 39

Looks like Monday/Tuesday is the expected time for that tropical system to influence us now (either as a low or a cyclone) so EVO seems safe... At this stage anyway - these things are hard to predict :)

Post 40

Cool .. Fishing is on there :)

Thanks for the info OD .. been watching this closely too.

Post 41

meh, if the cyclone hit while i was at the EVO, id die a happy man. well kinda happy...
there are about three better ways to die.

Post 42

w00t w00t! i'm bringin a tarp and my jumper...it's ****en RAWK getting a cyclone, apart from all the computer stuff gettin injured :|
