Due to changes, The current set up needs to have the local repeater moved.
Anybody along Chung Wah or 2 houses off the main ridge that runs palmerston who is interested in setting up as a repeater. Would be looking at a 12-15m ..
Pm .. other wise the current gear is going to the burner to be dismantled and handed out.

Did neighbours complain about the mast ? and then get the local govt. involved ?
Do you need a permit etc for the WLAN setup ? erect a mast etc ?
Is there any ACA involvement ?
Just curious as in Perth it is starting to take off and I might get involved so am doing research to get the ins and outs on all the regulations etc.

Yes to complaint. Yes to the Govt. No to WLAN setup. Yes for the Mast. No too the ACA
The mast was the issue. 2.5m is the height limit above the roof top of the house. But this only becomes an issue if somebody complains.
As I had a 6m telecopic at my old place and had no issues .. but 30m and 6m is a bit of a difference.
Bummer ...
I guess as you are effectively in competition with the likes of Telstra etc and local ISP's there may have been a bit of back office pressure to remove the offending item ...

We are a hobbiest group .. Setting up a WLAN .. so that we can play games and share files. We dont do internet so we arnt in that at all.
That as it may be but others ( ie Telstra , ISP's ) may view it differently ..
It happened here in Perth - similar scenario - local Council threatened to bulldoze the mast and confiscate eqipment as it was deemed "an illegal wireless transmission station".
Turns out a certain Telco leaned very heavily on local council.
2.4ghz on the Public spectrum .. they cant do shit. thats putting it nicely.
I am getting pick up on the illegal installation of the mast which is exactly what it was. I didnt have a permit for it.
Seeings we have another 30 in another area and thats still there proves that somebody just complained and hence now I need to pull it down.
Why dont you contact your ild neiughbour Paul, Hes a rigger by trade. Get him to check the mast and certify it. Hence the application for a permit should recieve less resistence.
Just a thought.
Maybe paint it green and blue to camoflague it ?
Still a bummer as I followed with interest the building and installing of the mast.
i know what's involved with correctly installing a 40m mast.. and it's not pretty.. rigging costs were over "0,000... footings were over 2m deep

Yep and its the same for a 30m.
And my footings arnt 2 meters deep .. Plus we tried and really not in the right position for it ..

6 Meter mast on roof that 10 meters off ground.
elo all yes will the intentions were at their best !!! at the moment im getting some info on all the requirements need to do this without ne PAIN !!(Council)
that way if its done to requirements and specs should all be sweet as.
From the DIPE website
"You will need to engage the services of a building certifier in
private industry to get the required Building
Permit before construction commences.
You will need to provide the Building
Certifier with:-
i) details of the proposed development
(including drawings);
ii) structural engineer’s certification for the
structural design; and
iii) certified plumbing design (for any
plumbing work)."
Also
"A Building Permit is valid for two years
commencing from the date on which it is
granted. This time may be extended if an
application is made to the Building Certifier
before the expiration of the time for which the
permit is valid."
so in a nut shell the strucure has to have a engineer’s certification which the 30m mast have just have to contact the makers (which is hills I think) for the paper work on the designs, details on the placement of the mast with full drawings a mesurements etc and all basic paper work
THEN
"Before Construction Commences The building certifier should have:
• approved all plans
• forwarded the Building Permit and
accompanying plans to the Director,
Building Control, Department of
Infrastructure, Planning and Environment;
• checked that building insurance has been
taken out which must be evidenced by the
appropriately stamped policy (refer HBCF
details over the page); and
• informed the builder of the appropriate
mandatory notification stages (inspections)."
theres more to it than that, but after I talked to DIPE the other day I was advised to contact the private certifer for all the details on what they need and was told to get all paper work done before you contact them to save on some $ dollars $
30m in a back yard might be a bit big - but ham dudes have had 18m in there yards for years so 18/20m might be the way to go
