Quote: Richard Dean Anderson In Season 8, he opted to have a reduced role in the Stargate SG-1 series due to his reduced availability. As of December, 2004, it is unknown how limited his role will be for the show's 9th (and possibly final) season.
Since we are just getting season 7 on DVD.. i wonder what's in store for the future.
I can tell you how limitted his role will be though... just give me an elastic band, paper clip, and a container of crushed ice. With that, I'll make a transdimensional portal amplifier.
Quote from Hitokiri Kensuke: He was cool as McGuyver, but not in Stargate.

Aw snap, and here I thought I'd be the first to make a McGuyver reference. Missed out by only six million jokes!
He's supposed to be in season 9 for a limited amount, and Ben Browder (John Crichton from Farscape) will play a Lieutenant Colonel called Cameron Mitchell as part of SG1. It's beleive he may take over the command position from Carter.
Back story is that he led the squadron of F-302's against anubis' fleet in the season 7 finale in which he was injured and promised a spot on SG1 when he recovered.
Look's like O'Neill is going to be promoted again to Hammond's new position overseeing Homeworld security and Beau Bridges will be the new General in charge of the SGC.
Also Lou Gosset Jr. will guest star as a Jaffa who competes with Teal'c for leadership of the Jaffa, and Mitch Pileggi will be in Atlantis as a Colonel.
He's not going to be in it much as I believe he'll retire due to events that happened in the Episode "Threads" (the latest one that was on TV up here).
I honestly think SG-1 is wrapping up and we'll probably only see out the tenth season.
Personally, Anderson is perfectly cast in SG-1 and he does a brilliant job.
