... if a vehicle is clocked at 93 k an hour after 50 meters from a dead stop, vehicle has just shifted into 3rd gear and at no point did revs go over 4000, what would be

a) Quater mile time
b) Terminal speed at the end of the quater mile
c) Approx torque of engine given that it is 2 litre 4 cyl engine at less than 4000 rpm and curb weight of car at (hang sec ill go look it up)

Just curious to see if i should enter the Lancer in the drags after i pay my "10 fine.

no idea. good to see you've already broken the new car in though :)

Post 3

a) 12.5
b) 160
C) 95kw

:D :p

Post 4

Pity ure guess is shit Armoras ;) but yeah curb weight of approx 1300 kg with fat bastard Eater at the wheel.

By broken in i guess you mean fined Mungus, break in time is still going hence the no going over 4k revs. Still got 350 k's up this week and first service at 1500 is getting closer, then we shall see what my factory standard toy can do ( without breaking it ;) )

Quarter mile time is very hard to calculate without knowing the cars power curve, especially if the car is a Manual :P

What car did you buy Eater?
I must have missed something :|

Got 2005 lancer

http://www.mitsubishicars.com/MMSA/jsp/lancer/features_specs.jsp?t=all

ES model

Assume the curve is a straight line or extrapolate from the torque figures on the spec pages (if they can be believed)

Post 7

I'll attempt it.

But there's a lot that needs to be assumed.

EDIT: Too much needs to be guessed (like gear ratios). Neo's answers below look about right though. Although I'd take a lower torque figure, a slightly lower terminal speed and about 17.5 400m time.

Post 8

a) 17.1s
b) 132km/h
c) 162Nm @ 4250rpm

Post 9

Hmmm, that looks about right...

What online tool did you use to get those ;)

Post 10

Lancer ... Good choice mate ;)

Post 11

Warranty was the big driving force on this one

Id be impressed to get figures like that and keep the revs under 4k ;)

Post 12

Fined already ?? That didnt take long :P

Post 13

sell one of the two cars you have sitting there to pay the fine mate :P

Post 14

I think it was preemptive ;)

he just has a habit of breaking cars....

one of them involved a palm tree :P

Post 16

you would find down the quarter your acceleration dies in the arse. my laser pulls 100kmh in second @ 6500rpm. but once the speed picks up little cars slow dramatically as the gears get taller.

is that a milk bottle like mine Eater?

Post 17

I cant work it out myself, but to do so, youd also need to know the gear and final drive ratios, and wheel size. A morosso power calculator slider should be able to tell you pretty accurately based on that info, and you SHOULD be able to get one for a couple of bucks from independant motor mart
