It is now the start of October so new rosters at work are being made. It would be really nice if a date could soon be set for this months event? Simply means I can get in early and get the time I want off work for once. Been soooo long since my last DGA.

I havn't owned anyone locally for a while now, so will be nice to start again... Owning that is :p

Hey is there any dates for the next LAN ?

Post 6

I wish i could tell you mate. But i have asked and got no feedback from the exec committee reguarding the proposed dates.
Maybe a few more of you keen games can ask in bigger fonts and stuff in this thread and they will wake up and give me/and the dga attendants a answer.

Ok peeps we have a DGA meeting late next weekend. Dates for the upcoming lan and evo will be discussed.

If any of you would like to present something to the committee, have suggestions, ideas, problems, whatever let a DGA committee member know before next weekend and it will be brought up at the meeting.

Looking forward to giving you guys more info soon.

EDIT: MEETING DATE WAS INCORRECT

Meeting is tomrrow.. Dates to be announced soon...
We are trying not to hold DGA's every month cause we dont get 40+ people turn outs.. so people can save money for the event as well cause a dga each month costs a bit for the gamers.. . etc..

Post 20

My personal take on the issue is people are less inclined to want to be part of the DGA community if the lans are held so far apart.

The games and friendships need upkeep to keep the spirit alive something you will not get holding lans so far apart.

Post 21

Well we arnt going to make everyone happy.. sorry wortel..
Its better for DGA and better for the DGA gamers to have it like this
But there will be times were we do have DGA closer together.. eg 1 a month depending on things

Post 22

Can you please give your reasons as why it is better your way? Make this a debate please.

DGA isent trying to make money to become rich.. We are just trying to get by.. Also trying to get upgrades.. eg more tables.. DGA chairs.. Gigabit hubs etc...

The money it costs for the gamers is an absolute pittance compared to the price of our gaming rigs. Its an expensive hobby we accecpt that.

Im disputing that the gamers want a community they can become involved in.

The way I see it is when there is only 1 lan every 6-8 weeks your potential lan gamers start looking for other hobbys that they can get more involvement in and these hobbys will push out lan gaming to a background concern.

If the culture exists people will follow and it will thrive.

If the culture is very thin so will be your population.

Post 26

4 - 6 weeks should be the maximum time between LAN's.

I am leaving soon for QLD and I'm hanging out for my last DGA. But it looks as though I have already been to my last one.

But hopefully I will return one day to some DGA LANNING GOODNESS...

Post 27

Im so glad you all have a mighty opinion on how things should be run, perhaps you should have been at the election of the new comittee and put your hand up then. Or is it much easier to sit on the sideline and throw idle comments to antagonise an already fragile coalition of gamers. Yes DGA will be having a LAN event soon, yes there is a meeting today to discuss it, yes you will know as soon as we have a concrete date time and venue.
Thankyou for your patience

Post 28

I work every single Saturday and had no chance of attending the meeting.

My opinion is not be debated only belitted here :(

I don't have the exact details in front of me, but as I recall DGA's constitution nothing would have stopped you from:

a) Nominating yourself before the AGM, and
b) Voting by proxy (getting someone to cast your vote on your behalf).

Maybe next time.

EOS - We are with you - We are just keen for the LANage ...

Wortel, perhaps spare a thought for the members of the committee who donate a great deal of their personal time for free to organise and run LAN's

Just remember they have a life outside DGA too :)

Post 32

Was no knock at you Mymatsu, was just a statement to say that if they current situation is not to your liking, there have been ample and multiple oportunities to have a say, any say, anytime.

"My opinion is not be debated only belitted here" - What drugs are you on, you attacked DGA and its organisation, i responded, easy as that.

Oh and the AGM was on a Sunday im pretty sure, ;)

Post 33

June 30 was a Saturday... But obviously if anybody cared about it more people would have rocked up and had more of a say. We sat down for a good bloody half hour maybe more discussing the future of DGA and I think it was good...

Post 34

There was no "attack" as you say.
I only said I was disappointed.

There was no debate against my points.

You have accused me of antagonising and drug use.
Should I be sorry I had to do my job while your meeting was on???

Im just saying "if lans were more frequent the lanning culture will thrive"

Now how was this point debated????????

Post 35

wow, calm down. Perhaps you should be clearer on your wording if you don't want to make it sound like you're attacking them just because they don't agree with you, that's about all I can see from this too.

And with your "if lans were more frequent the lanning culture will thrive", unfortunately that hasn't really been proven in the past apart from a few people. It's not always an option for the younger people at DGA to be able to afford it so frequently, and a lot of the older ones too sometimes. ;) Just as it's not always an option to get that much time off work for those people, much like yourself, who work weekends and aren't able to get them all off.

As I'm sure you're aware the attendance levels have dropped quite a bit over the past year, so perhaps this is just a trial to see if they can increase it again.

Post 36

*Ahem, refere to Brain_Dance's ThreaD, impropper posting*

This is completely off topic of what this thread was about guys, cmon, stick to the DGAs upcoming date :p no offence but if ya gonna debate, do it in another thread guys :D make a new 1

Post 37

OK then I will agree to disagree and be happy with 40 people DGAs.

No more debate from me. :D

Post 38

80 should be a max for DGA, deciding its a smallish area, anyhow, 80 is just how many may come, knowing that less that 80 come but it atleast it gives people a chance to get in, also, is dga locked in for the 15 next month>?

Post 39

No, newbit.

Post 40

What the?

Love the professional look of the whinning......
