Obligatory Spoiler Riddled Serenity Thread

So I just went and saw serenity, made sure I watched all the firefly episodes first so I'd be up to date. Movie was pretty good, except

OMG THEY KILLED WASH YOU BASTARDS!!!!!

and

OMG THEY KILLED BOOK YOU BASTARDS!!!!!!

I really am getting sick of joss whedon going wholesale slaughter on his characters in his conclusions.

Also, i'm almost certain that CMAX cinema was running the film at about 125% speed, either by accident or because they started late, either way, it gave everyone in the movie a dash of helium, and ****ed up the timing on a lot of the jokes. Not too happy with that.

Pure excellence. I was extremely happy with the movie, except for the Wash bit.

Two scenes of the movie that gave me goosebumps of joy:
- When The Operative's fleet watches Serenity emerge from the ion storm followed by the MASSIVE Reaver fleet.
- When the blast doors in Mr Universe's facility open to reveal River standing over dozens of Reaver bodies, holding two huge axes.

Great movie. :)

I watched it again tonight in a packed theatre - you could tell a lot of Firefly fans were in the audience because of the audible gasp when Wash got spiked.

Funnily enough, nobody gasped for Book.

Book was expected after you saw the attack on haven..

But wash was from out of nowhere!!

Pretty good film i thought. (saw it friday night).

Yeh, what a way to kill off a random main character, kill the pilot lol. Atleast the spike that killed him was massive!

Nowhere? They were being pursued by Reavers, and Joss Whedon allowed one tiny cliche into his writing. Wash got more time onscreen than he needed to express relief, and the little cliche alert bells rang in my head. Then he died.

Still, it was an excellent film.

Yeah damn good film, already can't wait for the next two :)

but they wont have Washburn.... :(

I now need to get a hold of the firefly episodes... Watching that movie without a true sense of what is happening really sucks...

Excellent movie. Might have to go see it again this week. Any roomers about starting up the series again should this movie prove to be a big enough success?

They've signed the actors to 2 more movies, haven't heard about them going back to TV yet, but I would think that's still Joss Whedon's ultimate aim

buffy sucked, but I really enjoyed Firefly

Serenity was an awesome movie. In preperation for the movie i watched the pilot episode to give me some understanding of what the movie was about.

Awesome movie - the big space battle was the best that I have seen in a long time.

worth watching again and again and again....
