Prepare to meet your Doom. Then say hello to Halo.
Not only is just about every hit Hollywood movie spawning a video game but hit video games are increasingly being turned into movies.
The director Peter Jackson and his screenwriting wife, Fran Walsh, will be involved in a big-budget adaptation of the sci-fi game Halo to be shot in New Zealand next year.
The filmmakers behind the Lord of the Rings trilogy and a new version of King Kong will be executive producers as the best-selling Microsoft title makes the transition to cinemas.
Just found this yesterday though kongisking.net. Not very excited about the movie but the post production diary videos are very interesting. They're not the usual "Oh this movie is gonna be awesome because blah blah", they actually talk to the behind the scenes people and give you an insight on parts of the making of movies like this.
For instance I didn't know for big production movies like this they have people manually cutting out people and things from blue screen shots, frame by frame! I thought it was some high end computer algorithm. They even remove things that they don't want there like bad reflections n stuff.
A script-stealing reviewer tells he's got the lowdown on the Halo movie, and apparently he has high expectations. Hear that due to the violence written in he reckons it just may be "the Saving Private Ryan of video game movies."
