Not good at meeting people.. and not to sure if owning people is a good first impression :p

Edit: ooh can I try out for your CS clan, i'm guessing CS: Source yeah? I haven't played it yet but i'm sure i'll get the hang of it quickly :p

Post 11

I'll never understand that, there are so many people at these events, and yet, everybody sticks in their two or three people groups. Get the fudge out there and say G'day to people. I'm not saying, meet everybody there, but make an effort to be seen and talk with people. I met 14 new people at the last DGA, I don't necessarily remember their names, but I do their faces. I've also got some good old friends in the gaming community.

If you're new, find the old schoolers, chat with them, meet other people. You can generally tell MOST of the old schoolers by their socialising (most of them will be doing the travels).

I still think the best DGA was DGA 1.

Show-off ;) .

Best DGA was DGA 6 - my first one (which was followed by Biohazard - still one of the best LANs I've been to - and yes, Steve, we're still waiting for number 2 :-D ).

What Hitokiri says is spot-on - the thing that attracted me to LANs in the first place (apart from the obvious love of playing games) is how friendly they were. It was so good to meet people who were like-minded (ie, gamers) and talk shop with someone who actually understood.

If you're a first-timer reading this, contemplating coming along, then come! I only knew one other person before I went to my first DGA too. Doesn't take long to make some real friends.

Mmm sounds good :p i dont play source tho just plain ole cs, our clan is just for fun and wel in my case an anger outlet ... :p but if ur stil intersted and all.... you have to get frosty, rhino and deus to count you in .... :p Good luck and may the force be with you... *dies from use of lousy catch phrase*

On that note, how many times have you ‘old school’ people came up to a complete random nubblet and say something like “Hey your not a bad player but I see your having some troubles why don’t you try something like this….”. I sort of miss that a lot, especially when you’re new at something and have more to no clue how to play some of the games. A lot of the time I hear more old school people saying something like ‘n00b lol’ (not all of course) rather than getting up and introducing them selves and giving the poor nubblets a few pointers. I would have been lost without the help a heap of people gave me at my first few lans. It is hard for someone new to say hello to someone they have never met before. I do see a lot of the nubblets walking around and they will admire the way you play and might say a quick hello or give a smile but that’s about it. Just remember it takes two to start a conversation.

So I don’t only encourage the nubblets to walk around and say hello to people, but I also encourage old school to walk up to the back corners of the rooms and introduce them selves to a couple of the younger kids.

Anyway is anyone actually dressing up formaly to this LAN?

Post 15

DGA 9 was my first. Man .. I'm not going to know anybody this weekend will have to go hide in a corner. Back in the day I remember people coming up to me

"SperO"
"yea"
"where is *insert random name here* sitting?" And actually know wtf they were talking about and where they were sitting.

For some reason people always used to ask me, i think because I actually used to talk to all the newbies :D

Guess I'll be the newbie this week :)

Post 18

I've always made an effort to meet some new people each time. I'm not the most regular attendee, but I've been there since day one. Part of the process is meeting people.

Post 19

DGA is the best place to meet people IMO because you all share gaming in common... I mean your eyes have to have a break sometime, so I find that break a perfect time to meet and greet...

Post 20

DGA 10 was my first one :O

Actually, Kurt's crap... so :P

Post 28

Yep yep, definatly be there and on time for once. Will be eager to play some CS:S. Is anyone actually getting together any clans for CS/:S at all, I my-self would participate, not quite sure on the numbers for this though.

Post 29

i reckon, we should get some good atmosphere outside again like last time when the power box went down, had a good game of Hackey Sack outside with a coupla guys, didnt no some of em but was fun to do

Post 30

I reakon these Chuppa-Chuppa challeges should be more outside and physical activities. Gets everyone to socialise rather than all just sit around an X-Box/PC? Just a thought.

Post 31

next challenge = spelling bee.

Post 32

play 1-Bounce soccer game, whoever is left in the end is the winner :p

A DDR (Dance Dance Revolution) is a very physical activity...wouldnt you agree?

Post 34

Too physical for unco-ordinated people like me. I couldn't dance to save my life :S

Post 35

I think Archery...
Legal, and safe if done properly. Plus it's not too physical, without NOT being physical.

Post 36

i can see a scarecrow up at the greek school with Hitokiri using his bow and arrow... You can picture the scarecrow as Hitokiri sneaks up in a range of 30m away and unleashes his arrow which then Pierces the the scarecrows head...

Knight who is right beside him drops his jaw and yells 'HEAD SHOT' HEADSHOT!

Post 37

30m... thats **** all for his bow :P

Post 38

I haven't fully tested it, but I'm pretty accurate to about 50m.

Considering the difference however in the use to normal bows, it'd probably not compare. ^_^

EDIT: I still think Archery would be good though. ^_^

Post 39

Totally unrelated, but Steve, im looking to join a local archery club here where I live, i could use some pointers in selecting a bow and any tips you can give etc. Would you mind PM'ing me? :)

Post 40

PM Sent. ^_^

Post 41

imnew will be there as well, because hes new...
