Memories of DGA...

Guys, in celebration of DGA 5th Birthday, I thought it'd be fun to put up a few thoughts (and pictures if you have any) of the earlier DGA's, the ones that set the scene, and the parts we miss or still enjoy today.

It's up to you what you'd consider old school, but I'd consider prior to Evo1.

Me first:

I miss the friendship between everybody. The ganging up on Korny and Flame (now days' just Korny). The lack Spyware, or risk of being overrun with virus'. Lightening storms, and constant power outages (as much as they sucked).
The jokes and games, the jokes IN games.
Exciting locations, and interesting layouts.

ok i can cut the power for a bit for you.. ill be sure to yell somthing out at you in game.. ill put a table outside for you.. ill bring stickey tape so we can stickey tape up korney and flame.
Ill make sure i got a virus called "porn.exe" and tell everyone to open it

Sound good steve?

I said, I MISS the lack of Virus' and spyware... I don't want MORE of it. ^_^'

Oh yeah, and Filesharing and porn.

Lots of great memories... DGA 1 being something really special, the biggest network gaming gathering in Darwin's history at that stage - everyone was very excited about what the future entailed for Darwin's gaming scene.

DGA 6 was a landmark event in my mind, we had a Class A venue, and was probably the most professionally run LAN DGA had hosted (not including LANs post DGA 6 of course).

At DGA 8 we used our own tables, courtesy of Clackers, for the first time. It was quite cool to own some of our own equipment.

I could go on and on, instead I'll leave you with a picture of a drunken OverDrive from DGA 6. :D

I miss the time when people listen to admins, kept the place clean, didnt spew up inside or outside, but most of all i miss when Tn1 used to run it, and the look of pure terror when he realised the buck stopped with him ;)

LOL EOS

"Howie we have 5 dead 20M Cat cables, 2 flaky switches and only enough ports for 110 (when 130+ rocked up) and its 2pm what do we do"

" Cthulu: Is that power cable from my DHCP server supposed to be touching the main switch? "

" Cocky there is some greek guy here swearing at me, I think he is after you "

" Clackers: We blew the ****ing WHAT???"

" CoCo : Your daisy chaining 16 8 port switches?? OMG!!!

" Xaine : Anyone got a knife?? (while scraping melted extension cables off the floor)

Too many :)

Personally the 1st Evo we did at the Foskey I thought was the best, apart from the shitty switch i made the DNC guys use :P

hmm Eater has it spot on.
As for the pics of OD, i believe he is looking @ tubgirl ;p

let me think about some of my fav moments in DGA history.

tn1.thinking.

I miss going and not having to take Urit with me :). Although he caused me much amusement when he fluked a head shot to Unseen to win a round of CS in his second or 3rd DGA (He would have been 5 or 6 then and playing with cartoonstrike skins).

Post 9

I miss a lot.

I miss clans and rivalries; DNC, SB, S (and even pantheon), DT etc.

I miss owning Coco over and over and over and over and over...

I miss milenko :P

So many good times.

Post 10

I miss the clan evironments really.

Going to a DGA know there were clan wars going to happen for whatever games. Then playing and being really intense action going on.

then afterwards going outside and talking to the other team congratulating them, having a smoke and a drink .. they were the best.

Many good memories over the years.

DGA1 was nice I knew only a few people but managed to meet almost everybody there. I miss Pheonix :) he was a funny guy.
More of TOB I miss include Gunz, Hark and Nightcrawler.
Thanks for sticking around tn1 :D Always there to get owned and keep coming back for more.

CS was in the boom years and the clans all popped up and then we all got serious trying to kill Syndicate. That was fun well done to DNC for taking that trophy (I was holding them back :p)
My computer was always so shit. Big props to great fellas like Flamm, Hitokiri Kensuke, Zereaper & Korny for letting me play on their machines sometimes.

Hopefully more years of fun and more friends to make on the road ahead. :)

DGA At the Casuarina Library

Rent@Kill: What's that burning smell?
Jay: no idea.

In the morning.

Rec: Arrrgghhh!

Post 13

u guys must of had alot of fun when ur whole group was together :)

Post 14

Haha Jay, i'm with you on that one. Was my first DGA and was a lot of fun, had abit of a water prob eh :p

Was first time I played CS I think, well on my own computer anyway. De_Aztec.. Terrorist.. "I dont know what im doing, I swear.." runs across bridge.. shoots one shot.. bam head shot Neo, Looks up to Neo *shrugs* :p

Countless power problems, they sucked but they did make things intresting.

Good competition in CS, that was a lot of fun and miss it a lot.

Meeting a lot of nice people, even though I was a very quiet person.. Thankyou.

Being allowed to help out at so many lans and getting an Evo admin shirt.. yes I still have it :D

Things I hated:
Sleeping on the cold hard floor of the Bridge Club - that was hell :(
Network problems
Loosing to DNC and S (countless times)
Unseen's completely bullshit headshot :)

Post 15

Or to the whole fact that S at that point (except rec-o-whore) wasn't playing CS anymore. ;)

I remember picking up GunZ on his first lan too :) What was that, do I play CS?
