Just wondering if anyone's seen Peter Jackson's King Kong at the Cinema yet ?

Previews and reviews look promising just wondering wot those who have seen it thought ?

Watched the original version on ABC the other night. I was quite suprised at how cool a story it was.

Still deciding if I should sit through the 3 hour "epic" yet !

Then it's just wait for someone to "remake" Metropolis so I can get motivated to watch that original too.

:)

Seen it, starts out slow, but it's awesome :D

Yeah I thought it was awesome. PJ sure knows how to make the epics. Wish it didn't go for so long though, there are some fairly slow parts. Oh and some parts that probably aren't meant to be funny but end up being hilarious.

I never thought I'd see a giant monkey wrestling three T-Rex thingies while swinging on vines, while the psudo-T-Rexes were also swinging on vines and wrestling.

I'll just repost what I said in another forum:

Just saw it last night. The best bits were the Kong vs T-Rex fight and the Brontosaurus run, me and my friends laughed quite heartily at the absurdity of it. The bit where the guy running through the Bronto legs jumps and kicks the Raptor (or whatever it was) in the head almost accidentally, was hilarious. And the bug scene was really freaky, almost had me cringing (because the CG was so well done, not because of the direction).

Kong was done really well, you could actually see believable emotion in his face.

But apart from that, very average movie. It showed all the emotional depth I expected from Peter, as in almost none. The natives were awful, 1 dimensional charicatures. They might as well have saved money and put the orcs from LOTR in there.

I'm not sure if Peter Jackson really understands how to string dialogue together without it sounding staged and unrealistic. People say things for a reason, give us that reason, don't just make the actors conduits to 'emotional speeches'.

All in all, I can't get enough of Naomi's face and the CG gave Kong real character so the movie was better then I expected :D

Ok... i found it rather... not so good. I don't know why. It was just to like lotr and a mix of beastiality. I mean its good, but not up to my standards. The cinematography was far from tops.

Wait...LoTR with beastiality...am I the only one who sees how wrong that statement is? o_0

I think you have a point Ritz. It was a bit like the Sam and Frodo thing hey :P

Oh, the movie was also way too long.

Yeah 3 and what ever hours was shocking. I had to spend alot of my time making side remarks about the movie with my mate in order to keep my attention span active.

But yes the Kong and T-Rex WWF restling was bloody awesome :) I mean he mangled its head. He was down for the long count. (lol but im not wrestling fan btw)

Trex vs Kong was awesome...worth seeing it just for that.

Thing is, it wasn't just long, it was unnecessarily long. It's not as if the storyline is big or anything, yet Peter just manages to somehow fill it all up.
