I doubt many of you remember me..haven't been on here for aaaages. I work at KIK FM; KIK Digital in town now, full time web design / ad production - haven't had enough time to enjoy the net latey :( So I hear their's a new Evo coming up? Wouldn't mind coming..cept my computer's still shit as and I dunno if any of the oldies would recognise me :D
Anyway, back to the point - I'm more then likely working on the south island of NZ from June this year for the snow season..wondering if anyone from up here has given it much thought, or anyone has worked on the south before. I'm goin over with my older sister, her boyfriend and some mates - they did the '05 season in the north, so we should be pretty right - but if anyone knows of certain resorts / mountains that would be better to apply for then others swing us a PM or reply for sure.

Been snowboarding in NZ, not my favourite place but the scenery is freaking amazing. I stayed in Queenstown, snowboarded at coronet peak, remarkables and one other place I can't remember the name of. They are top quality slopes, the only problem is there just isn't enough infrastructure. Each place I went to had like 5-10 lifts, and you can't stay on the slopes. So the wake-up at 4am or so to catch the bus up there really shitted me off. But there's a lot of other cool stuff in Queenstown, the jet boat down the river is absolutely amazing, can't wait to go back and do that again. Didn't get to go bunji jumping but I definately will next time. So yeah, I've been to better places (only because too many people vs. not enough lifts, the quality of snow and slopes is excellent), but don't hesitate to go, it's an awesome place. Will comment further when not SUI, surfing under the influence LOLOLOLOLOL

wow tard, that's sweet as!! snowboarding's my last board sport to try, so i'm mega pumped to give it a go. last coupla years i've been skimboarding, mostly in darwin - but for the past 6 weeks on the east coast between Sydders and Rockhampton, mainly Bribie Island and Byron.
yahh, we'll hopefully be headin to coronet, remarkables, mt hutt and treble cone - mostly the wanaka region i think. we'll hopefully be workin on the slopes, on the lifts themselves - so hopefully their won't be too many drama's snowboarding in the spare time or before work. yeah, i'd love to do the bunji and everything else - wouldn't have even minded doing a summer season, love white water and mountain biking.

yeah the maximum my my sister and her boyfriend [23 / 24] were paid was flast "0.00 :( but if i save enough and don't spend my cash stupid, then hopefully we'll be able to board and live onna mountain..
I'd suggest looking at trying to get a job in Q'town. If you've got any hospitality experience you'll have a good shot, the whole town is full of tourist type stuff. Plus working on the slopes wouldn't be very good compared with doing it in Aus, cause you'll have to get up super early to get the bus/car up there. There isn't really any time to snowboard before the lifts open to the public afaik (well at the slopes I was at anyway), only the ski patrol guys do that to check powder depth, safety etc. So yeah, I'd suggest trying for a part time job in a bar/restaurant/club, that will mean you have most days open for skiing/boarding, and also working in a bar or something would be pretty sweet, Q'town is one giant party town in winter.
