Velocity Gaming - Moving to Brisbane

Velocity Gaming is moving to Brisbane.

We will be open for another couple of weeks, then the business is moving in entirety to Brisbane Northside.

No, there will be no individual sell off of computers, components or other equipment as the business is not shutting down, just moving.

However, in the event that someone/some consortium of ones would like to purchase an operating Internet Gaming Cafe in Darwin, the complete cost is $75K. This includes full transferral of business title and a month of my support and assistance to whatever level is required.

The lease is current until end June this year. If anyone has any thoughts about this idea, I reccomend that you look at the vacant shops under the Metro, Cavenagh St, which we considered an excellent alternative to our current location and was only moderately more expensive than the current location.

With more promotion, Velocity Gaming could easily be a success. Many prospective clientelle, currently in Iraq as part of the ADF protection of Japanese engineers will return to Darwin in two months.

Personal changes for both myself and my investor dictate this move for us. My investor is returning to Australia to take up a post supervising the upgrading of Avionics on the RAAF's venerable F111 bombers in Brisbane and wants to have his own gaming close at hand.

If you are on Newstart, have some IT knowledge and qualify for the NEIS scheme, you may have an option there. Perhaps several such people could form a partnership and convince a bank or other source of finance to support an endevour of this kind.

Once again, $75k buys the business in it's entirety, including the business name and all computers and equipment.

This will not be advertised as my boss is more than happy to move his investment to Brisbane and is more in answer to the inevitable "can I buy a system from you cheap if you are closing down then!?" question.

It was in Deagon when I last played there some years ago.

I don't know if it is still operating. If it is, probably NOT at Deagon.

yeah, i'd check out areas like chermside, nundah, stafford. not inner-north so rent won't be as bad. i'd be careful going too far north as the demographics might not fit your target market. Westfield Chermside is probably in the top 4 largest shopping centres in Bris, so if you set up there (high rent probably) or in close proximity you'd catch alot of school kids. Most successful gaming cafes/lans in Bris are either next to large shopping centres or in the CBD shopping district, and I don't think that's a good idea as there's 3 there already atm and they all have pretty loyal followings. I'd recommend checking out Chermside, I think that it would be a top place to set up - though I obviously haven't checked out the costs and whatnot :)

You have some pretty hefty competition over there Battlinard... Especially with the big places like InfernoLAN and The Bunker... Theres a big CS scene over there and those places are already quite established in the gaming community over there...

Fierce competition on the east coast, it's incredible hard to launch a new "gaming" cafe, with the thousands of comers already having cyber-homes that they are loyal to.

The Bunker is one of Australia's most famous gaming cafes, and draws huge crowds. It's the home of some of Austraia's biggest CS names, including Functon Zero.

I wish you the best luck on Queensland's North coast, but it's far from an easy ride - be prepared for some very hard work and expensive marketing.
