Looking for some good websites where i can read up on fishing in the Darwin and surrounding areas.
Mainly looking for river locations/hotspots, reef locations/hotspots, species, tips, bag limits etc
If anyone knows some good sites can you please post them
Go get the North Fishing magazine. Details all the known reefs. as well as rivers and explains what fish u can expect to catch there.
Also gives GPS coords so it makes it easier to find these places.
just go over to big information center in town they can give you heaps of info

get the nt fish finder magazine, cost about 30 bucks but it is the bible.
Yeah FishFinder is an excellent way to start.
Other than that, hit the water and do some recon. My son grabbed a Coral Trout last weekend on some reef I found off of Nightcliff last year. Not bad for his first ever fishing trip.
Knight, Fish Finder is the Bible. So is listening to any one that fishes. Just spent two days in the harbour and visited so many spots and recoreded them on the GPS. :) not a bad few days
Shady Camp. Ask Steve at Fishing and Outdoor World too. Or visit Gove.
Shady Camp is hit and miss. My mate spent all day there today for no barra, but I fished out front about a month ago and got a bag of jewies and a nice goldie. Also it's a long way from home if you are new to boating. At least in the harbour you have a good chance of getting help from other boaters on the water, at the ramp etc.
i hear its two fish per person at shady camp or has that changed now lol
If you wanna catch a barra, try darwin golf links water traps after hours when no ones looking
knight buddy if you got a gps i can hook you up some co-ords i have (many).
this year is a bit wierd as the wet season has gone on for a while and there is still alot of water around. pretty much anywhere that still has descent runoff will still sport some good fish as all the water has all the goddies that atract the prawns.
if your up for a trek to the vernans there is some good fish around there. as of last week that was.
and if you don't have a boat someone told me the other day they caught some big queenies down at fanny bay beach.
also if you still talk to mick at halmark he uasally always has some good tips.

It's fully of guppies, archer fish, rainbows, flathead 2 I think, and a 90cm cat fish it's been in there for 22 years now.

Ha. That would have been a good weekend for Mick....
lol it could have been a lot worse if he caught snags & lost lurers then the esky full of home brew beer floated down stream.
