Team Fortress 2, an all-new version of the title that spawned team based multiplayer action games, features the most advanced graphics of any Source-based game released to date. Players choose from a range of unique character classes such as medic, spy, sniper, or engineer and must work together to complete a variety of tactical objectives.

Post 2

Post 6

The art on the characters suits the game's style so well, gotta love it :D

Post 7

I reckon the cartoonish kiddy models are utterly homo. But then again if the gameplay is even half as good as TFC I couldn't care less.

Post 8

Post 9

Post 18

TF2 AND ET:QW around the corner. What an opportunistic time to build a new gaming rig.

PS. Dan, that image clearly exceeds forum image width guidlines. Could you please resize it, before I'm forced to place a temporary ban? ;)

And I love how the demoman's dynamite works too.
Good to see they've kept some of the old maps as well.

Basically its the big gren the demoman had previously - MRLS MLRS or something like that...

1st bang - little one.. and all the little bombs blow off the bigger one, then a huge bang. They were perfect for taking out sentry's too.

Post 45

Back in Quake, the Hvywep dood could not walk and fire at the same time, he was rooted on the spot whenever you spun up the minigun. Then when it was ported to half-life, they gave him the ability to slowly inch around. IMO this made him way too powerful. It's seems that he can slightly move still, so i hope they have balanced this out somehow.

Post 46

If you were good enough you could keep your barrel spinning without firing and move at an even faster rate :)

Actually to my knowledge the HW guy could walk while firing in early versions of QWTF. They nuked him later on, and made him almost useless. Then when bunny hopping was discovered, everynoe stopped using him entirely.

Post 48

Hmm i think your wrong there Rec...pretty sure its as Frenzy said, initially you were stuck while firing...but it has been 10-12 years??

Bunny Hopping..bah...Conc Hopping was where it was at :)

Post 49

Fleshy should be able to clear up the argument for us, he stopped playing QWTF because they nuked his favourite class (being the HW guy). And I think it's because he could no longer move while firing?

Go over to his desk and ask him! :)

Post 50

I don't work next to him anymore :(

Its the only bad thing about being promoted..i got moved :(

Post 51

Unless you were OD standing on top of the base of well as a HWGUY trying to shoot down snipers on the other side.

Jay's first memory of Octa4 TFC

Post 52

Knowing Dan, he probably got them too. Flukey bastard. ;)

haha seems Fleshy got his way in the end. :p

Post 54

I remember TF was nice and balanced in quake, and then i remember how cheesy it was to be hwguy later on in the half-life version. But yes was a long time ago so I'm not putting any bets down.

Post 55

Oh man only been waiting how many years few more months will not kill us :S

Post 56

So anyone know the latest release date? still Feb ?

Post 57

3rd Quarter 2007?

Post 58

their patching system? you mean the one that releases patches to steam on an American Friday night? the one that means you get to a LAN on saturday morning and have to wait while everyone updates their client? :P

In news that shouldn't come as a surprise to anyone that's followed the development cycles of Valve Software, Half-Life 2: Episode 2 has been delayed, now with a release window of the U.S "Fall 2007", so September, October or November this year.

The confirmation comes by way of a new press release that also details the "Black Box", the PC bundle of Half-Life 2: Episode Two, Portal and Team Fortress Two and the "Orange Box", which includes all that in addition to the original Half-Life 2 and Half-life 2: Episode One and will be released for PC, Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3.123

Post 78

isnt it funny how this shit goes round and around and around ? lol.

Man tf2 was suppose to come out 3 years ago LOL

Post 79

Technically the release of TF2 was first said to be as early as February 1999 - instead we got given TFC in April 1999 and in 2000 TF2 was officially delayed.

We basically heard nothing until Gabe Newell said that it was still in the works during ATi's "On Top Of The Rock" event way back in 2003. Then silence again.

Finally last year we heard some concrete information... although it has been delayed another full year since then.

Post 80

I have waited years for TF2, whats a few more months >_<

Post 81

Originally from the German gaming mag “PC Action” (and then translated on the HalfLife2.net forum) comes a boat load of new details on Valves new multiplayer masterpiece.

Only a few more months to go.

"General

* There won't be "normal" grenades anymore. Valve thinks that they unify the different classes too much.

* Unlike in Fortress Forever, teleporters are kept in Team Fortress 2. The ammo dispenser will make a comeback as well.

* There will be a personalized statistics system. For example, you could see an in-game message like "Hey, you've never played your class as well as today - keep it up!"

* Valve thinks that classes in other games are a joke. "Where's the difference between me choosing a M16 or an AK-47 rifle?", asks Robin Walker.

* It would be technically feasible to let owners of a PC, XBOX 360 and PS3 play against each other. Whether this feature makes it into the final game is still uncertain and depends on Sony and Microsoft.

* Valve received very few threatening letters because of TF2's comic design.

* Owners of multicore processors will get additional, undisclosed, graphics details.

Classes

* The Scout can perform a double jump, as known from the Unreal games. That is, he'll be able to jump a second time while in the air.

* The Medic can heal team members from long distances, as long as they are in sight. Furthermore, he can make himself and his patients invulnerable for 10 seconds.

* Every class has a unique close-combat weapon. Even the secondary weapons differ from each other often times. Following is a list of classes with their primary, secondary and close-combat weapons:

* Scout: Shotgun, pistol, baseball bat.
* Soldier: Rocket launcher, shotgun, shovel.
* Pyro: Flamethrower, shotgun, fire axe.
* Demo Man: Sticky bomb slingshot, grenade thrower, broken bottle.
* Heavy Weapons Guy: Machine gun (mini gun), shotgun, fists.
* Engineer: Shotgun, pistol, wrench.
* Medic: Machine pistol, healing ray, bone saw.
* Sniper: Sniper rifle, machine pistol, club.
* Spy: Revolver, cigar case (PDA for switching your disguise), knife.

Maps & Gameplay

* Apart from 2Fort, there'll be a remake of Well.

* There will be completely new maps for the game mode "Territorial Control". It will be randomly decided which area of a map is supposed to be conquered and the team in possession of that area will assume the role of defenders.

* There will be trains rolling through the map Well, which should be avoided by players.

* Capture The Flag becomes Capture The Documents. Instead of capturing a flag, you'll have to capture a briefcase from the opponent's base."

Post 91

medic invulnerability? that's crazy talk!

Post 92

10 seconds can be along time... handy to run across open spaces.

Post 93

Anticipation is building. Can't wait!

10 seconds geez, way to make scouts CTF without a dying cause and there keeping teleporters gumbles!

Its hardly a team fortress game, its just a new styled class based game with crazy graphics.

Post 95

so you have 1 runner and 13 medics? thats 130 seconds of invulnerability.....

Post 96

forbearance!

Post 97

so you kill the medics - i'm sure the effect wont stack, so they'll have to wait til he's vulnerable again before the next medic works his mojo on him :)

Post 98

Quote from dragon xr;303208:

I'd probably assume some sort of cooldown.

Post 99

Nah these things don't get playtested.....

Post 100

i'd assume no invuln on flag carrier. or pally bubble style - invuln makes flag drop
