So because iiNet aren't putting ADSL2 in Casuarina, you're leaving them? Going to another provider who gives ADSL2 in Casuarina?
Oh, that's right - nobody else has got ADSL2 enabled exchanges AT ALL in the NT.

Not only that they have been telling us that they are going to upgrade the exchange for the last 12 months and that if we have the phone bundle we will get 1500/256, but now theyare also changing all our plans from 1500/256 to 512/128 with no price cut. For the same price that we were paying for 512/128 at iiNet you can get 1500/256 at Internode. Go internode!! I changed. The ADSL2 thing was only the last straw.

The NT isn't going to get any more dslamms from anyone if the backhaul is at Telstra rates. Internode apparently have enough customers for a few exchanges to be enabled, just the cost of the backhaulage that makes it a non viable exercise.

I'm curious to know if anybody else has been affected by this, as I am on a broadband1 plan of 1500/256 with 20/20 monthly limits, and have had no warning email, and no change to speeds/limits.
Until that happens, for $69.95 per month I am still hard-pressed to find a better provider.

Palmo, Fairway, Cas, Nightcliff and Darwin exchanges have ADSL2+ cars installed ready to use.... now its down to Telstra sales to let people use them.

The is the same all accross the country, and has been for a couple of years now. Telstra don't want to do this as it will cut into their 2/2mbit market

Telstra aren't actually all that bad, they try their best to get straight onto things.... you have to remember they're a ****ing massive company and they do have alot of shit to do, so they can't always be there the next day if you know what i mean.

After my grand tour of the nice cairns exchange i was hinted that they wont just turn on exchange after exchange like node / iinet its going to be a mass switch on they are trying to offer the product to every home not just a select few which i agree is a nice thing on there part, and i suppose you cant really offer 22 mbit to everyone otherwise those nice pipes we have running will be clogged with mario shit, but i dont understand why not use adsl 1 technology it will handle up to 8 mbit ? "suppose upgrade exchanges for the future :S

From what you were told in your email, it says to me that all broadband1 plans are supposed to be 512, with the only 1.5M plan being the 35/35 for "09 per month.
broadband2 plans are as is, and you're SOL if you're not on a broadband2 exchange (which is all of NT except Darwin :-p)
According to that email, anyway...anybody else on iiNet NOT on the Darwin exchange?

Out of all the people i spoke/ranted to at telstra ( and there was a lot - this includes my work at the council for the alderman)they are idiots, when i wanted to get ADSL there was 1 person who kinda helped me and that was cause he thought i wanted to be with tel$tra which will never happen. Others had NO IDEA of WTF i wanted to know, or what my issues were with not being able to get it or how to help me. At one point it was suggested that i could move house :mad: to be able to have ADSL. i was like WTF mate????
The customer service is appalling, prices are just short of being illegal ( but people who dont know better still pay) the people that ring up to get you to go back to tesltra have NFC!!!, and the techs are just as bad - ask insidious about the other month when we were trying to get or ADSL fixed !!!!they are trained monkeys who can speak english......
