Problem with New PC

I just bought a new box and tried out my refurbished mobo.

I installed it, winds up fine with video card fan running and also the CPU fan going, but no picture.

Have tried two video cards to alas they both don't work (have tried a 3rd one that i am using in this machine in it and also does same thing)

Could it be my mobo is fried? It happened when we moved into our new flat about 3 months ago.

I hope someone can think of something, because I am stumped to think what it is!

Reseed the RAM.

Plug in a case speaker and listen for POST beeps.

failing that it could be cpu or mobo

Anyone wishing to part with a lga775 AGP mobo to fit a P4 640 3.2GHZ?

i just had the same problem with my MB, worked out that the videocard was not sitting right. so i pushed it in and give it a little shake side to side. prob not the best thing to do but it done the trick

Before you go ordering a new motherboard or whatnot, I highly recommend removing the motherboard from the case completely and rebuild your system from the ground up, including removing/reattaching your cpu and heatsink.

I know it sound's stupid but I had a problem EXACTLY like that and I couldnt nut it out. Turned out to be a screw arcing on a solder-point on the motherboard. You never know :)

yea milenko is right - I hate to see mobo's go

and if no good then through it away.

aluminium cases, ahhh problem solved
that and they are lighter to carry

Have you tried it on another monitor?

Thanks for those other tips guys...ill give em a go, when I put the PC back together again to give it another try.

I had to take apart with stuff all over my lounge room floor I did want my 1 year old eating any ot it :)

umm, aluminium is a better conductor than steel

they use aluminium to make power cables.

some of the time its the little Brass screw things that get screwed to the case some of em are higher than what is needed check them. there is a case where they are too small so the vid card wont seed properly, thus having bigger 1's will fix it.

Yes i saw with the case it came with only 2 big ones and 3 or 4 small ones.

I used all small ones in every hole to fill.

Question is with the silicion washers should I put one on the side if the motherboard meeting the screw and also one meeting motherbaord and the brass bolt?

I have alwasy done one side only, that being the motherboard and the screw (from the top wise)
