Well the business edition of Vista is already in some peoples hands..
NTG has 11 Vista pcs about to go out sometime in the next few weeks.
We wont see Retail copys till end of jan..
so start looking for copys of vista.. I dont know if i want to wait a few months to wait for all the bugs to be worked out via patches or what..

Post 2

a few months? that's optimistic man :)

Post 3

we've had vista for a while here and Office 2007

Post 4

wonder why they called it vista ...
"windows xp 2" probly wasnt good enough i guess.

Post 5

Vista sounds fresh, and probably means something. At least the didn't call it Windows 360 or something.

Post 6

i think it's because you'll likely be looking at the vista outside your office window while you wait for your system to recover from BSODs

Post 7

we are now building systems with vista upgrade vouchers.
buy xp pro systems and you can upgrade to vista if you feel like it, the only cost is shipping (aprox $35AU).
pretty exciting news i think.

Something that wont work properly until 2 service pack releases, and then be full of holes that will require security patches pretty much every day.:p

Strange, I thought that was the definition of Microsoft. ;)

Post 11

i thought microsoft was something small and squishy. like lenko.

Post 12

I might be squishy but I certainly aint small!

Post 13

Vista seems pretty good to me
love the alt+tab thing

Post 14

I'll get it December 2007

Vista release is still too buggy imho. Installed the MSDN copy and it worked fine ... until it (it, not me mind you) installed my sound drivers once it was connected to the internet. Since then it bluescreens (yay BSOD!) while booting until i remove the sound drivers in safe mode. Whats worse is i cant get vista drivers for my card yet, and having no sound sucks so im back to XP until they at least put out drivers.
Office 2007 on the other hand rocks, although having 4 or so versions sucks. Office ultimate and enterprise are the only ones that come with Access and a few other things so they seem the best.
Oh and joining vista to a domain seems to be a bit more annoying then windows used to be ...

Isnt that only valid for the full boxed retail, and not the OEM?? I think to qualify, you need to send in the box top from the retail pack, and your receipt. You wont get either with OEM.

Post 17

you get the upgrade voucher with oem versions.

Post 18

yeah with oems, im unsure about the retail upgrades.
but at 4pm i started building a system for your jabsy and ill be finished it by nine thirty.
in the box there is a upgrade sheet :)

Post 19

Well stuff me, thanks lads. I got a mail from M$ saying it was for the retails.

That's good value with the OEM versions...

game performance has been tested and proven to be worse under vista than xp even with dx10 so until they fix it so that games run the same or better than they do on xp im not upgrading
